Dolphins Stay Hot At WTCC
The Fins took care of business in Raleigh as they swept Wake Tech for the first time in program history. With the 3 wins the Fins move to 27-6 and 17-4 in Region X play.
Game 1- It was a pitching duel from the start, neither club could scratch a run across the board. The game was scoreless until the 7th. In the top of the 7th Tristan Marsh got on with two outs and Alec Dumas hit a two run homerun to take the lead. The Eagles would respond in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own. In the 9th a rally would occur for the Fins. The Fins would score four in the top half of the 9th to put the final nail in the coffin. The Fins would win 6-2. Kyle Tatum lead the way for the Fins offensively with three hits and two RBI’S. Tristan Marsh also had a day with two hits and one RBI. Josh Jarman had a quality start on the mound. He went 6 innings with 10 strikeouts and only allowed 2 hits. Jarman notched his 6th win of the season.
Game 2- It seemed to be another pitching duel in game 2 of the double header. Until the Fins broke through in the top of the 4th. Back to back singles by Hunter Ashburn and Kobie MacKinnon got the inning started. The pitch got away from the catcher and Ashburn scored on a close play at the plate to give the Fins the 1-0 lead. Then a double by Marsh scored MacKinnon from second. Then to top off the inning a single by Chase Sykes to Score Marsh. The Eagles would respond by scoring a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Fins would score one more run in the 5th to extend the lead. Four runs was all Grant Smith would need, he pitched lights out. Smith threw a complete game while only allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and on his way to strike out 10 batters he earned his 5th win on the season. Will Barbour lead the team with 3 hits in the game. The Fins would win 4-2.

Game 3- The Fins looked to go for the sweep in game 3. The bats were hot for the Fins as they collected 13 hits on the day. In addition to the 13 hits they would score in every inning but three. The Fins tallied 9 runs. Trevor Heasley lead the way with 4 hits of which 2 were doubles, 4 RBI’S and a homerun on the day. Chase Sykes would also hit a homerun, the first of his career. Every Fin would collect at least 1 hit in the game. The pitching stole the show for the Fins as they threw a 1 hit shutout. Hunter Stevens got the start for the Fins going 5 innings while striking out 9 and allowing only 1 hit. Price King got the save going 3 innings. The Fins would win 9-0 and sweeping the Eagles.

What’s Next:
The Fins return home this weekend to take on Guilford Tech in a 3 game series. The Fins have moved back into the top 10 in the ranking coming in at #8 this week.
