GAME 1

  • Spartans Drops Game to Appalachian State After Late Score
  • Saturday's game against Appalachian State was a heartbreaker for Spartans, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat. The game was tied at four with Appalachian State batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for Appalachian State.
  • Spartans got things started in the first inning. Ryan Coucke hit a solo homer.
  • Goff led the Appalachian State to victory on the mound. He went five innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out four. Bullock threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
  • Connor Ziparo took the loss for Spartans. He allowed five hits and six runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one.
  • Rule started the game for Appalachian State. He lasted one inning, allowing three hits and three runs while walking zero
  • Spartans hit two home runs on the day. Coucke had a four bagger in the first inning. Zack Skrobot went yard in the first inning.
  • Matthew Domke led Spartans with two hits in four at bats.
  • Jones went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Appalachian State in hits.

GAME 2

  • Spartans Grabs Lead in Seventh Inning to Defeat Appalachian State
  • Spartans stole the lead late and defeated Appalachian State 9-7 on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Spartans batting in the top of the seventh when Matt Candela drew a walk, scoring one run.
  • Both offenses were strong at the plate as Spartans collected eight hits and Appalachian State five in the high-scoring affair
  • Spartans got things moving in the first inning, when Zack Skrobot homered on a 0-2 count, scoring three runs.
  • Appalachian State scored three runs in the fifth inning. Appalachian State scored its runs on a home run by Alexander.
  • Ben Hufland pitched Spartans to victory. He surrendered one run on three hits over two innings, walking one.
  • Stokes took the loss for Appalachian State. He surrendered one run on zero hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
  • Kelly started the game for Appalachian State. He allowed eight hits and six runs over six and a third innings, striking out three Christian Burkheiser started the game for Spartans. He surrendered six runs on two hits over five innings, striking out 11
  • Spartans socked one home run on the day. Skrobot had a dinger in the first inning.
  • Hufland went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Spartans in hits.
  • Jones led Appalachian State with two hits in two at bats.
