Jacob Thorn threw a two-hitter, striking out 10, ran their win streak to eight games with a 12-2, five-inning victory over Niceville Thursday.
The win for Gulf Breeze (15-5) also avenged their last loss, a 6-1 game at Niceville on March 21.
All nine spots in the batting lineup had at least one hit or one run scored for GBHS, who scored runs in all five innings, including seven in the bottom of the second.
Caden Conway drew a bases loaded walk scoring Seth Frantz, who drew a lead-off walk. Bryson Rouillier then cleared the bases (Lumpy DeWeese, Roman Jackson, Conway) with a double.
Rouillier scored on a Troy Coughlin ground-out. Gavin Howard walked and scored on a Carter McIlwain triple to make it 7-0. McIlwain scored on a passed ball.
Of the Dolphins’ 12 runs, only five of them were earned.
Gavin Quenneville had a hit, an RBI and scored twice. Howard, Rouillier and Jackson all scored twice in the win.
The Dolphins played at Catholic (a game that has been postponed twice) Monday ( after the News’ deadline).
GBHS plays at Fort Walton tonight before returning home Friday to face South Walton. The team’s seniors will be honored before the game.
