In the late hours of Friday night at Jimmy John's Field in Utica, the Brother Rice Warriors (30-1) beat St. Mary's for the 4th straight time this season. The 3-0 victory was Brother Rice's record-setting 14th Catholic League Championship, the most of any team in the history of the Catholic League. A 7-inning shutout performance from (Sophomore LHP) Cole Duhaime helped seal the deal. (Senior 3B) Chase Vanameyde had an RBI double in the 4th inning to open up the scoring. (Freshman C) Broder Katke followed that up with a double of his own to make the score 2-0. (Senior 1B) Ryan Tyranski added an insurance run in the 5th with a Sac Fly to make the score 3-0. That was how it stayed as Cole Duhaime finished the game with a strikeout, his 9th of the game, which gave the Warriors their 8th Catholic League Championship in the past 14 seasons.

In the Semifinal victory over U of D Jesuit, Rice avenged their only loss of the season by exploding for 5 runs in the 5th inning to take control of the game. With the score tied 2-2, The first 5 players of the inning all reached base: A single by (Senior 3B) Chase Vanameyde, a double by (Freshman DH) Broder Katke, a single by (Senior SS) Tristan Crane, a single by (Senior OF) Ty Fox, and then a walk to (Senior OF) Wyatt Ruppenthal made the score 4-2. An RBI groundout from (Senior 2B) Max Orozco made it 5-2. (Junior OF) Cash Vanameyde smacked a 2-RBI single to give Rice a 7-2 lead and they never looked back. The 5-run lead was plenty enough for (Senior RHP) Blake Ilitch who pitched a complete game 3-hitter. He allowed just 1 earned run and struckout 14 batters along the way.
