Rice Blasts Catholic Central 16-2 in Tune Up Game for State Tournament

On Tuesday night in Novi, the Brother Rice Warriors (37-1) put an exclamation point on the end of their regular season schedule by bombing an all-time, Program-record, 7 Home Runs to beat the Catholic Central Shamrocks 16-2. The numbers from the game border on the unbelievable: Brother Rice hit 7 Home Runs in 5 innings. The Warriors' pitching staff has allowed 8 Home Runs in 38 Games.

 

(Senior 3B) Chase Vanameyde hit 3 Home Runs, his 8th, 9th, and 10th of the season, which resulted in 6 RBI. He has driven in 67 Runs this season in just 114 At Bats. He was sandwiched between (Senior C) Owen Turner and (Freshman DH) Broder Katke, who each tallied a pair of dingers. The Trio in the middle of the order were the story of the game as they hit 7 balls over the fence and registered a combined 14 RBI.

 

To give it some perspective, the Warriors (37-1) are ranked #1 in the State and #4 in the Nation according to Max Preps. They have a .370 team Batting Average and are scoring 9.3 Runs Per Game. On the flip side,  opponents are hitting .168 against Rice's Pitching staff. Opponents are scoring 2.0 Runs Per Game against the Warriors who have a 1.72 team E.R.A.. This is Brother Rice's 13th Mercy-Rule victory of the season. Their next game is the District Semifinal against Bloomfield Hills on Saturday at 12:30 P.M. at Bloomfield Hills High School.
