OP Loses Two Heartbreakers in OC
3/6/2013

OP traveled to Orange County to take on St Margarets on a beautiful Saturday morning.

The JV came out hot and jumped to a 4-2 halftime lead.  The 3rd quarter was all St Margarets though as they outscored OP 6-1 in the 3rd period.  St Margarets held on in the 4th for a 10-8 victory.  The difference was at the faceoff X where OP only won 19% of the faceoffs.  St Margarets also capitalized on 2 out of 3 Extra Man Opportunites (EMO) while OP failed to score on either 2 of theirs.

The Varsity battled the Tartans tough all day.  OP trailed by 1 at half but fell behind 9-6 with 3:30 left in the game.  OP battled back with 2 quick goals to cut the lead to 9-8 with 1:55 to go but a failed clear and a turnover in the last 2 minutes sealed the Eagles fate.  OP had an uncharacteristic 9 failed clears and turned the ball over on 55% of their offensive possessions.  Adding salt to the wound, Marc Goodnough injured his ankle and will miss at least Mondays game.

Redondo Union(1-0) travels to Eagle Stadiium on Monday for a 6pm JV (1-1) and 730 Varsity (1-2) game.  Redondo is coming off a 10-6 win over Loyola in their opener.
