Ebken’s Big Day Propels Junior Varsity Tigers Past Fox Chapel

Ebken collected three hits in five at bats, as North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers defeated Fox Chapel 7-6 on Friday at Fox Chapel Area High School. Ebken tripled in the sixth inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.

 

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers opened the scoring in the first after Lopez singled, scoring one run.

 

Fox Chapel captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth after Chiquelin singled down the right field line, and Kotts flew out, each scoring one run.

 

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the sixth when Vargo drew a walk, scoring one run, Mullen singled, scoring one run, and Ebken tripled, scoring two runs.

 

Jones singled, which helped Fox Chapel tie the game at five in the bottom of the sixth.

 

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers jumped back into the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Krapp grounded out, and Vargo singled to left field, each scoring one run.

 

Petro earned the win for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers. The pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Dworek stepped on the hill first for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers. The starter gave up four hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Gouwens stepped on the mound first for Fox Chapel. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out two and walking four. Scotti collected the save.

 

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers piled up 12 hits in the game. Rosenberg, Lopez, and Scotti each collected multiple hits for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers. Scotti led North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game.

 

Leadoff hitter Jones led Fox Chapel with two hits in four at bats. Moyer, Yoshikawa, Jones, and Chiquelin each drove in one run for Fox Chapel. Fox Chapel were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Kwiatkowski had the most chances in the field with five.
