Junior Varsity Tigers Claim Victory Over North Hills

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers topped North Hills 8-4 on Tuesday at North Hills Senior High School.

 

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lopez singled down the right field line, and Schantz grounded out, each scoring one run.

 

A single by Ebken extended the North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning.

 

North Hills jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers dropped a third strike, Thompson singled to center field, and Guszyzynski walked, each scoring one run.

 

North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers captured the lead, 6-4, in the top of the fifth when Schantz grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

 

Evanish earned the win for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers. The lefty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking six. Rosenberg started the game for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers. The starter gave up four hits and four runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two. Richter started the game for North Hills. The pitcher gave up four hits and six runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Scotti threw one inning of shutout ball for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit, striking out one and walking none.

 

Ebken and Mullen were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers while hitting back-to-back. Lopez, Ebken, Petro, and Schantz each drove in one run for North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers. Ebken paced North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Mullen stole two bases. North Allegheny Junior Varsity Tigers stole five bases in the game.

 

North Hills's Werner, the number eight hitter, led North Hills with two hits in four at bats. Thompson and Guszyzynski each drove in one run for North Hills. Guszyzynski paced North Hills with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game.
