Bolton faces New Lowell in finals

August 27, 2011

In dramatic fashion last night, the Bolton Brewers eliminated the Aurora Jays in the second round of playoffs with an 8-7 win advancing them to the finals.

The series, which needed seven games played to decide a winner, was a fierce contest between the two clubs and one of the longest in recent memory. With ties and rainouts the series included ten games, which rivaled the championship series of 1956 when 11 games were needed to determine a champion.

Bolton will now meet New Lowell Knights today (Saturday) with a 12 Noon contest at Bolton. Game two will be at New Lowell tomorrow (Sunday) scheduled for 4 p.m. The best of seven series will pick up again on September 10 after Bolton and New Lowell head to provincial championships over the Labour Day weekend.
