The New Lowell Knights annual civic holiday tournament concluded Monday with a Creemore Braves and Bolton Brewers slugfest. Bolton won the game 14-11.

The three-day event at New Lowell and Lisle parks had 12 teams participating. Rain on Sunday delayed play for about an hour. The schedule was back on track Monday for semi-final play and the consolation and championship games.

The consolation game featured host New Lowell Knights and Clearview Orioles. The contest was close in the early innings of play with Clearview leading, but New Lowell answered back and eventually won the game 10-4.

In the championship game, Bolton Brewers won the tournament after a 14-11 decision over the Creemore Braves. Creemore got off to a 4-1 lead after the first inning with Bolton scoring six to Creemore's three in the second frame to tie the game at 7-7.

In the third inning Bolton added another two runs followed by a run in the fourth frame. Creemore tied the game at ten apiece in the fifth inning with a run in the third, fourth, and fifth. Bolton mustered three more runs in the sixth followed by a lone run in the seventh to maintain the lead. Creemore managed one run in the sixth in a losing effort.

Tournament awards were handed out during a post-game presentation. Creemore Braves' Steve Westbrooke and Bryan Post had a stellar weekend at the plate and took home the best batter award. Tournament most valuable player was New Lowell's Allan Brownridge while teammate Steve Baldry was the top pitcher.
