Camas and Union Varsity combine to support Breast Cancer in H4P Fundraiser

January 21, 2010

At least three high school girls basketball teams have organized breast cancer awareness nights this season.

Evergreen wants us to Think Pink in Friday's game against Battle Ground. The team will be selling "Hoops 4 Pink" T-shirts for $10.

Meanwhile, Prairie and Camas are holding special nights in February for the second year in a row.

Prairie's big night is Feb. 1 against Hudson's Bay. The Falcons are asking for breast cancer survivors in the region to attend the game as their guest. Survivors need to call the Prairie ASB office at 360-885-5013 to sign up. Survivors will receive a free T-shirt and will be honored at the game. Prairie is raising money for the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. There will be a raffle, as well. Anyone wishing to donate cash or prizes should contact coach Al Aldridge at 360-253-8690.

Camas has been raising funds all season for the Kay Yow Fund, in honor of the North Carolina State coach who died last year. The Papermakers are planning a Pink Night for Feb. 11 during their 6 p.m. game against Union. There will be an auction and a special half-time event.

If there are other Pink Nights on the schedule, please contact The Columbian sports staff at sports@columbian.com
