In the first of two key games this week, our Eagles took on rival Agoura on Wednesday night at home. The first half was a hard fought defensive battle with the Eagles taking a 2-1 lead into intermission on goals by Brendan Egan and Ryan Shorts. OP dominated the time of possession and created some great inside and outside scoring chances, but Agoura’s goalie refused to yield.
The second half saw the Eagles open up a 6-2 lead on goals by Hunter Jamison, Alex Wenker, Zack Shorts and Patrick Lasure as the Eagles offense moved the ball well against an aggressive defensive scheme. However, the Chargers weren’t done as late in the 4th they scored a pair of goals to keep things close. The outcome might have been closer if not for several outstanding saves by Shane Bracken down the stretch. Much as we’ve seen during the Eagles latest winning streak, the long pole defense of Marc Goodnough, Brendon Jasso, Max Bulko, Austin Roundy, Mitch Hedlund and Joe Peters was outstanding through-out the game.
Next-up during “rivalry” week; a trip to Oaks Christian on Friday for a 6:30 PM contest.
