After going 4-0 in season play, the Finest 16U went on successful trail of wins leading to an undefeated overall record of 7-0 and a hard fought Championship I.S. 8 Title. The 16u Squad 2nd round of playoffs took place against the Westchester Bulldogs and came up with a 77-71 win. It was a semi-finals game with championship atmosphere, as the Finest Squad took on N.Y.A.B.C. While trailing most of the way, the Finest floor generals found a way to continue striving and stay around until the fourth quarter a great run that lead to the team not only closing up on the deficit, but they were able to also tie the game at 72, when Sheldon Yearwood came up with a rebound and sent to the FT line to attempt 2 free throws which he iced to seal off the 73-72 win behind a great defensive and offensive effort of LeBrent Walker, Jevon Thomas, Jagger Freeman, Devon Lynch the rest of the Finest Squad. On championship day, the Finest Squad didn't find themselves in an easy match up as they encountered a hard fought match up against the Big Game Basketball team. Jagger Freeman, Championship MVP, led the way, but it was an untiring strive of defensive effort by LeBrent Walker who came up with back to back stills and drives as well as the go ahead winning free throw hitting 1 of 2 with 4 seconds left in regulation by Jevon Thomas as well as key 3pointers and great defensive run by Shelton Mickell, Devon Lynch and Tre Jordan that led to seal the 74-73 championship win. It was a productive and successful IS 8 journey that was led by the Finest members mentioned above, but it was a combined all season effort led by the strong desire of the roster composed of: LeBrent Walker, Jevon Thomas, Jagger Freeman, Devon Lynch, Shelton Mickell, Sheldon Yearwood, Maurice Harkless, Kristopher Owens, Tre Jordan, Marcel Fulton, Shamoy Allen & Kyle Credle.
