The Atascocita High School Eagles Baseball Program has grown into one of the most competitive high school programs in Texas since the school’s establishment in 2006. The program quickly built a reputation for producing high-caliber talent and consistently competing in one of the toughest baseball regions in the state. Under strong coaching leadership, the Eagles have secured multiple district championships and made deep playoff runs, solidifying themselves as a powerhouse in Texas Class 6A Baseball.
One of the team's breakout seasons came in 2008 when the Eagles finished with an overall record of 29-5. Then the teams most successful season came in 2014 when the Eagles finished the season with a 31-9 record, including a dominant 14-1 run in district play which ultimately led them to the State Tournament at Dell Diamond in Round Rock - finishing that year as the State Semi-Finalist. That success helped lay the foundation for future strong performances, with the program winning a total of 5 district championships. The Eagles have remained a consistent playoff contender, making the playoffs 18 out of the 19 years the school has been in existence. In 2016, the Eagles went to the Regional Finals, and in 2019 finished in the Regional Semi-Finals. Most recently, the Eagles finished in the Regional Quarterfinals in 2024.
Atascocita’s baseball program has also been a pipeline for collegiate and professional baseball talent. Since 2006, the Eagles have had over 130 players go on to play in college. In addition, the school has seen multiple players drafted into Major League Baseball, with 10 Eagles selected in the MLB Draft. Notable draftees include Daniel Stumpf (2012, Kansas City Royals, 9th Round), who to date is the only player who has made it to Major League Baseball. He debuted with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016, and finished with the Detroit Tigers 2017-2019 season. Other notable draftees include Alerick Soularie (2020, Minnesota Twins, 2nd Round), Brice Matthews (2023, Houston Astros, 1st Round), and Kendall George (2023, Los Angeles Dodgers, 1st Round).
In the 2023 MLB Draft, the Eagles had an unbelievable 3 players drafted! They had two 1st rounders (Brice Matthews and Kendall George), and Matthew Linskey who went in the 16th Round to the Arizona Diamondbacks. As of now, Kendall George is the first and only Atascocita grad to be drafted out of high school.
