Belmont Football - Mission Statement

 

Use football as a vehicle to help instil and strengthen core values that will: assist our student-athletes reaching their full potential, on and off the football field; open doors for different post-secondary opportunities; and contribute to their growth into positive and successful leaders in their community.

Belmont Football - School Enviroment & Academics

 

 Connection to the school

  • Coaches in the building help facilitating communication with teachers, administration & parents.
  • Be part of, and enjoy, the support and the care of the entire Belmont Football community. Immediately bond with 50+ student-athletes.

 

 Lunch Time Homework Room

  • A classroom is open year-round at lunch time for athletes to complete school work and get support

 

Conducive Schedule

  • Practices are right after school (4:00 to 6:00), which allows our athletes to be home early.
  • Week day games allow our athletes to be free of obligations on weekends.

 


Belmont Football - Football Development

 

Classes offered for credits

  • Sport Performance Football / 1st semester - class targeted to serious football players wanting to further develop their fundamental skills further their understing of the game. 
  • Power Lifting / 2nd semester - class targeted to all high-end athletes at the school that want to develop strength, speed and explosiveness. 

 

Infrastructure  

  • Belmont has a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a new weight room.
  • Belmont is adjacent to City Centre Park. Goudy Field and Bear Mountain Stadium are the best football facilities on Vancouver Island and are home of Belmont Football.

 

Coaching

  • Alexis Sanschagrin is completing his Masters in Coaching Studies at UVIC.
  • Kevin Harrington holds a Masters in Leadership from Royal Roads University.
  • Alexis Sanschagrin & Kevin Harrington are both NCCP facilitators: part of their responsibility is to train other coaches in the community, including crucial components like Safe Contact and Concussion Awareness.
  • Alexis Sanschagrin is the longest standing staff member of Team BC U18.He has acted as defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator.
  • ALL Belmont coaches are committed to the student-athletes development and are positive role models for the athletes.

 

Additional Support

  • Belmont Football has a student athletic-therapist on site for every practice and a fully registered athletic therapist at every game.
