About the Eastman Selects U18 Female

The U18 Eastman Selects female AAA program is in its 16th season and consists of players that reside in the Eastman region (southeastern Manitoba) in grades 10, 11, and 12.  The program provides players in the region that aspire to play hockey at a competitive level with a challenging and rewarding experience.  Players in the program will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their skillset in a high performance environment while competing against the top teams and players in the province.  The Selects home base is the Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre with practices held twice per week while complemented by an in-season strength and conditioning program.

The team plays in the Manitoba Female Hockey League (MFHL) which is an 8-team league consisting of 6 rural regional teams and two (2) teams from Winnipeg.  The league plays a 28-game schedule in addition to playoffs. Eastman is the defending league champions; its second championship after previously winning the league title in the 2017-18 season.  Every year, the MFHL champion squares off against the eventual league champion from the Saskatachewan Female Hockey League to declare the Western representative and the opportunity to represent the Prairie Region in the Esso Cup.  In addition to league play, the team participates in other showcase events which offer the team and its players the opportunity to be showcased to college and university coaches while seeing other high-profile competition from Canada and the United States.  This past season four  members of its 2025 graduating class received scholarships and will continue their playing careers in post-secondary institutions in the fall.

After spending the previous 3 seasons with the U15 Selects Female AAA program, Trevor Hildebrand returns to the Head Coach position.  Joining him on the bench are Steph Jones, Ray Carriere, and Jason Remillard.  The staff also welcomes back Roger Storoschuk as the team's goaltending coach.
