The Monarchs trace their roots back to 2003 when the team competed in the 18+ Division as the Yankees. Manager Erich Rusie took over the team in 2004 and has served as manager every year except 2006 when the team merged with the Kokomo Braves and Rusie was an assistant. The team has undergone several name changes and a few rebuilds, but a lot of the original members can still be found on the 32+ team (Dodgers) that Rusie and Bobby Herbert launched in 2017.
