The Jake Walkup Alumni game is held each summer inorder to honor Jake Walkup and raise money for a scholarship in his name.

Each Spring a Jake Walkup scholorship is given to a Lanisng High School baseball player headed to college. Applicants must apply by filling out a scholarship form which are submitted to Trena Gilfert for review. Trena will look over the applicants and award scholarships annually to Lanisng HIgh School baseball players that represent the spirit of her son Jake Walkup.

“Jake loved baseball & he definitely supported his fellow players. He had a heart of gold & loved to make people laugh. He would wish the boys the best in life & I think his most important advice would be to enjoy every single second, even when things aren't going well, dig down, learn from it & keep going!”
