About the Lansing Nuts

 

The Lansing Nuts, a respected amateur baseball team in the Chicagoland area, recently finished their 17th season in 2024. They've been a force since their 2008 debut, accumulating a combined regular season record of 207-67-8 and NINE total championships (four championships in the Southside Wooden Bat League and five in the Tinley Park Wooden Bat League). Their journey from underdogs to frequent champions includes memorable series against teams like the Oak Forest Indians and the Bridgeport Seadogs. Their transition to the Tinley Park league in 2014 marked a new era of dominance, highlighted by sweeping playoff victories and a consistent presence in the postseason. Despite occasional playoff disappointments, the Nuts' record is impressive, showcasing their tenacity and the high level of play they bring to the field each season.

 

Team History:

  • 2008: Team debuted, securing a fourth place division record.
  • 2009: Dramatic improvement led to winning the Maple Division Crown with an 18-6 record, fell just short in the championship series against the Bridgeport Seadogs.
  • 2010: Dominated the season with a 19-6 record and swept through the playoffs, clinching first-ever SSWBL Championship against the Bridgeport Seadogs.
  • 2011: Topped the league with a stellar 22-3 record, overcoming the Oak Forest Indians to win second consecutive SSWBL Championship.
  • 2012: Posted a strong 16-4 record, defeating rivals, the Bridgeport Seadogs, to secure third straight championship.
  • 2013: Maintained excellence with a 13-4 record, triumphing over the Oak Forest Indians for fourth consecutive SSWBL Championship.
  • 2014: Made a splash in the Tinley Park 18+ Wooden Bat League, finishing 9-3 and capturing the championship by defeating the Windy City Stars in league debut.
  • 2015: Faced a challenging season, ending 8-5-1 and exiting early in the playoff first round.
  • 2016: Bounced back with an 8-3-3 record, sweeping through the playoffs and shutting out the Oak Forest Indians 7-0 in the Championship game.
  • 2017: Showed dominant form with a 12-2 record, clinching seventh championship by once again defeating the Oak Forest Indians.
  • 2018: Held a solid 10-4 regular season record, but were bested by the Expos in the semifinals.
  • 2019: Unbeaten in regular season play at 12-0-2, but faced another semifinal upset by the Expos.
  • 2020: Finished with an 11-3 regular season record. Captured eighth championship in a thrilling walk-off winner against the Oak Forest Indians.
  • 2021: Continued strong with a 12-2 regular season, but fell short in the semifinals against the Expos.
  • 2022: Maintained a competitive edge with an 11-3 record, yet lost a close one in the semifinals against the Indians.
  • 2023: Undefeated in the regular season at 12-0-2, but championship run was halted in the semis by the Wood Ducks.
  • 2024: Finished with a 6-3 regular season record, and secured their ninth championship sweeping the Oak Forest Indians.
