Mission Statement: "To Share the love of Jesus Christ through Sports"
Vision Statement: Through the love of sports we share the love of Jesus Christ with the ones God puts before us. We will put on leagues, tourneys and other events to provide a safe atmosphere where the participants and attendees will feel safe and loved.
History: P4E Playing 4 Eternity Sports Ministry was founded in Nov 2015 by our Director and Founder Donald Weyrick. He had been leading a sports ministry for a few years when he attended a Sports Ministry seminiar at APU. He was immediately convicted and felt the Holy Spirit calling him to take the ministry more seriously and organized. P4E was the outcome of prayer and deliberation. Since then P4E has grown from a league that struggled to get 8 full committed teams in to in 2017 we had 5 leagues containing 50 teams that had 500 players on it. We are continuing in our efforts to be one of the best basketball leagues around and at the same stay true to our Mission Statement. The basketball leagues are constantly improving, gaining traction, and popoularity.
Our ministry style is primarily based on the statement "Always be preaching and sometimes use words". We create a safe enviornment where we bring the "Church" to the participants and attendees. We pray before and after every game and In these prayer circles, our leaders share whats on their hearts and ask for any prayer requests. We have seen that as the league goes on, the players will feel more and more comfortable in sharing. Ministry also happens on a one on one basis. We interact with all the players by getting to know them personally and letting them know how much we care about them. We love them as Jesus loves us. We want them to know that and to know that they are not alone but they have us to help lift them up to the most High. Through these relationships we allow God to work and lead the way.
Director and Founder: Donald Weyrick
Don is the founder of P4E Playing 4 Eternity. He started P4E in 2013 prior to which it was formerly called Halogen Sports Alliance in 2010. Since then over 500 guys have played in the basketball leagues and tournaments, another 100 or so have played in the indoor volleyball leagues, 50 females participated in the Women's basketball leagues and another 20 have played in the beach volleyball events. It has grown from a few people playing beach volleyball and pickup basketball in 2010 to over 300 men playing in the basketball leagues today. During this time, three players have been baptized, lives have been transformed and praise reports and answered prayers continue to be shared. Don is also a part of CSRM (Church Sports Resource Ministries) which is a National Sports Ministry Network. He is also heavily involved with SOLA (Sports Outreach Leadership Association) whose mission is to involve 500 churches in a Southern California sports ministry collaborative. He is also the President of the Leadership Council of his church Summit Community Church in Bellflower, CA.. Don was a collegiate athlete in Swimming and Water Polo. He also played baseball, basketball and volleyball competitively. He loves to play and watch all sports. The heart of P4E is to strengthen the bond and increase fellowship between churches through sporting events and to show God’s love to the lost and hurt. It has seen how sports is a great tool in evangelism. Most of the players would likely not attend a church service if asked, but will come out and play ball, join in prayer circles, and even share prayer requests. P4E gets to be the church to these individuals that might not walk through the front doors of a church but would likely through the entrance of a gymnasium.
