About the Saints
The PCI Saints girls hockey team was started in the 2006-07 season after the amalgamation of the city's two high schools, Portage Collegiate Institute and Arthur Meighen High School.

Prior to hitting the ice, school staff and the community rallied together to get the program off the ground.  With 17 girls coming out in the fall of 2006 for the first "try-out" sessions, the team was born.

With acceptance in the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League, the team was set for their first season.

The "new" high school had adopted a combination of the PCI and AMHS colours and the Saints hit the ice for their first game on Sept. 22/06 against Kelvin High School in their new Gold and Burgandy jerseys. The girls were introduced to the league with a 7-0 loss.  The next game against St. John's Ravenscourt saw the first goal in PCI Saints history being scored by Antoinette Mercredi.  The team lost a close one 3-1.

PCI's first win came in their 4th pre-season game with a 5-0 shutout over West Kildonan Collegiate.  Getting the shut-out victory was Candice Hulme.

When the regular season started, the team lost their first ever home game 6-4 to River East Collegiate, who ended up at the end of the season being the Division 2 champions.  The team won their next game on the road vs Dakota Collegiate 6-3 for their first regular season win.
