Sarasota Senior Softball

A Sarasota Softball Tradition Since 1997
Established in 1997 with a humble roster of 77 players, the Sarasota Senior Softball Association has grown into a vibrant community of more than 350 players. What began as a small group of softball enthusiasts has become one of Sarasota’s most active and welcoming senior sports communities.
Our league is built around camaraderie, competition, sportsmanship, friendship, and the simple joy of playing the game. Whether you are a lifelong player, a returning player, a seasonal resident, or someone looking to get back on the field, SSSA offers a place to compete, connect, and have fun.
Founded
SSSA began with 77 players and has continued to grow into a strong senior softball community.

Players of different skill levels, backgrounds, and experience levels come together each season.

We work to keep participation accessible while providing organized league play and great competition.
A Place for Every Level of Play
SSSA is structured to give players the best opportunity to compete at the right level and enjoy the game.
Gold Level / A League
Designed for seasoned, competitive players who enjoy a faster pace and a higher level of play.
Silver Level / B League
A strong intermediate level for players who want competitive games with balanced teams and great fellowship.
Bronze Level / C League
A welcoming level for newer players, developing players, and those looking for a more recreational pace.
A Warm Welcome to New and Returning Players
To newcomers and returning players alike, our Board of Directors extends a warm welcome. Whether you are joining us from another league, moving to the Sarasota area, visiting for the season, or picking up the bat again after a hiatus, you will find a supportive community ready to embrace you.
Batting practices and league activities give players the opportunity to sharpen their skills, meet fellow players, and become part of the SSSA community before stepping into regular league play.
Winter & Summer League Play
SSSA welcomes both full-time Sarasota residents and seasonal players who come to Florida during the winter months.
Early November through Late March
Games are played during the week, with winter weekday games typically running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with breaks for the holidays.
Monday • Wednesday • Thursday
Summer games typically run from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, with a mid-summer break in August to recharge and regroup.
Team Spirit, Fair Play & Recognition
Team managers, all volunteers, play a vital role in shaping the league’s team dynamics and fostering a strong sense of teamwork. Before each season, managers work with Board Members to draft balanced teams and create a fair playing field for all participants.
At the conclusion of the winter season, SSSA gathers for an Awards Banquet to celebrate winning teams, recognize individual contributions, and honor the people who help make the league successful year after year.
