The Shelby Lions Football Club was founded in 1981 and became part of the ESFL (Eastern Suburban Football League). While with the ESFL, the Club played at the Pontiac Silverdome, which was a wonderful experience for all. In 1997, they were invited to the OMYFA (Oakland-Macomb Youth Football Association) for the 1998 season. The Freshman team went on to win the first Superbowl for the Club. The Club went through some growth over the next few years. The first games were played at Mae Stacker Park and were moved to Whispering Woods. Our field of dreams (Home Field) became a reality in 2002. This could not have been accomplished without the tremendous amount of time, talent, and financial resources from the Club, the Shelby Township P,R&M Department, the Shelby Township Board and the may hard-working volunteers and supporters.
| Our season rosters hold an average of 200 boys and girls in our flag and tackle football programs as well as the cheerleading program. Many of our participants have gone on and participated at their jr. and sr. high schools and beyond.

To the Coaches: We brought you our children, and they were given more than we could have known. You greeted tem with open arms, and my how they have grown. You took a moment to listen to what they wanted to say When they came to you eager to learn each and every day. You listened to their problems, listened to their needs. Praised their smallest triumphs, praised their smallest deeds.

You tolerated their chatter, amplified their laughter. Found out what was the matter, and found out what they were after. Most of all thank you for loving them and telling them that everything is all right. Teaching them that tomorrow is a new day and it is looking bright. Thank you for making our €˜stars shine!!
