St. Pancras CYO

It's All About the Kids

St. Pancras CYO is a non-profit sports program offering our community's youth an enjoyable learning experience in a safe environment. We strive to build our athlete's confidence and self-esteem by encouraging them to be leaders and strong team players on and off the court.

Our parish is St. Pancras located at 68-20 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale.

St. Pancras C.Y.O. was founded in 1964 by parents of St. Pancras school children who wanted to offer the youth of the Parish a sports program in a Catholic environment. Since that time, we have grown into an organization that serves over 250 youngsters a year in a variety of sports. Half century after our founding, we still offer various sports and instructional clinics over the course of ten months from September to June.  These include and have included:

  • Boys Basketball 3rd grade through high school (Fall and Winter)
  • Girls Basketball 3rd grade and up (Fall and Winter)
  • Instructional Basketball Clinic Kindergarten through 2nd grade (Saturday mornings Fall and Winter)
  • Girls Volleyball (Fall, Winter and Spring)
  • Girls Softball  (Spring)
  • Boys Instructional Baseball Clinic  (Spring)
  • Girls instructional Softball Clinic  (Spring)
  • Co-Ed Flag Football

Children from 3rd grade to High School play competitively on St. Pancras teams that compete against other parishes in the Diocese in a league called the Catholic Youth Organization (C.Y.O.). These include home games and away games.

Practice sessions are during the week, and games are mainly on weekends.  Children in kindergarten through 2nd grade participate in our in-parish instructional clinics, which take place on Saturday mornings.

Many of our coaches and our Parish C.Y.O. staff are members of our Parish and are graduates of St. Pancras School. We are involved in our organization because we want to give back to the youth of our community and because of our Catholic faith. Through sports, we teach youngsters sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, responsibility, and charity towards others. Mindful of our mission, we begin every game with a prayer. Our mission is to teach sports to youngsters, enable them to make friends and have fun, and grow as people in a Christian environment. Our motto is “It’s all about the kids.”

Additionally, in our fundraising efforts, we host tournaments to benefit families in our community to offset medical needs and hardships. One of our annual tournaments is the John Moore Tournament, named after our beloved coach, John Moore, who passed away.

Thank you Community!
