Playoff Preview: 'Twas the Night before the Playoffs

'Twas the night before the playoffs,
For Avi Alex Miguel and Lance,
Twelve other captains will show up & play,
Despite not having the slightest chance.
Ten weeks of intense competition,
Faded athletes for all to see,
But let's review the season,
To find out how it came to be.
Danny & Arley are awfully nice,
The yin and yang of basketball height,
They cheated and added Donovan,
But still couldn't put up a fight.
Marc & Andy the oldest duo,
Hoping for bay club fame,
They dreamed their season had a shot,
A dream that died the very first game.
Abdullah and James showed up at the gym,
We didn't know what was in store,
Abdullah talked and talked and talked so much,
And then he talked some more.
Ali & Tony are excellent players,
They're each a Bay club hero,
But their team is saddled with 'old man' Renner,
Thus their playoff chances are zero.
Garrett's wife Mandy came to a game,
I ended up sitting beside her,
She called out to Garrett during the game,
"You're not going to win with a Schneider".
Jordan and Nick got the steals of the draft,
An incredible starting group,
They somehow fell for the commissioner's hype,
But can't put the ball in the hoop.
Lance and Miguel were built in a lab,
Thair and Mo don't matter at all,
They overwhelm and kill every team,
But still don't give Kieran the ball.
They play with intensity play with speed,
They look like they're having fun,
But Lord my head is going to explode,
If they exclaim again "AND ONE!!!"
Avi Alex Gronk Ben and Trevor,
The team voted most attractive,
Hopefully there's not a mirror around,
Gronk & Trevor would be distracted.
Alex and Avi both love music,
For some reason they like Ed Sheeran,
They also know their finals strategy,
Make Lance pass the ball to Kieran.
Well now you know the ins & outs,
Let the rigged playoffs begin,
For the chance that the finals are not those two teams,
Are sadly incredibly slim.
AB & James vs Lance & Miguel @ 5:15
Lance minus 13.5
Ali & Tony vs Jordan and Nick @ 6:15
Tony minus 4.5
Marc & Andy vs Avi & Alex @ 7:15
Alex minus 32.5
Danny & Arley vs Garrett & Sagie @ 8:15
Garrett minus 6.5

Ali & Tony vs Alex & Avi @5:15
Alex the CHOsen one, realized he might not be that guy last week at the hands of Lance and Miguel. Avi is anxious to return to his formerly understated and polite ways after a short but understandable detour to the dark side last week. Tony flirted with a triple double again while Ali led the way with assists to the other team. Methinks Avi and the CHOsen one are mad about being punked in their own crib last week and will ask Trevor to stop looking in the mirror long enough to be the difference maker in this game. Trevor minus 11.5
Lance & Miguel vs Danny & Arley @6:15
Orange County's own CIF all star at Servite and Mater Dei, Kieran Betts has so far been a 6 points a game draft disappointment for Lance and Miguel. However, Kieran has been spending late nights strategizing over pillow talk with his wife about his coming breakout week 10 performance. While Danny has youth, size, athleticism, production, good-looks and likability over Kieran, not this week. Take Kieran minus 22.5
Abdullah & James vs Garrett & Sagie @7:15
For 9 weeks now, Abdullah & James have been unsuccessfully chasing that elusive first assist. However, week 10 has Garrett's mind on more important national issues and Conrad can't carry this team every week. With Elliot's rebounding, Wolverine's tenacity and James' shooting, I'm ready to predict a win for AB & James for the first time this season. Not. Conrad and Sergei minus 14.5
Marc & Andy 😩🫣 vs Nick & Jordan @8:15
There once was a commissioner that used to be in love with Team Mole and had nothing but bad things to say about Team MAKe - but not anymore. Andy used to be one of my all-time favorite bay club players when he was much much younger and Marc served our country patriotically while romancing women all over the globe for 20 years - thank you to both of you for your service. Nick & Jordan have a truancy problem and can't seem to get their entire team to show up at the same time - nor do they appreciate commissioners that really really liked them. Andy & Marc go out in a blaze of week 10 glory and finally beat somebody. Andy & Marc minus 2.5. Unless Jordan's team shows up and then Jordan minus 28.5

GAS, JAM, NIMO & Showtime overcome erroneous refereeing to take Wins in Week 9
5:15 PM Game: Team NIMO 65, Team Dolla 54
For Team NIMO, Nick Diciaula was leading scorer with 24 points and the sharpshooter netted a trio of three-pointers. Jordan Mole played Robin to Diciaula’s Batman and dropped 17 points and grabbed 7 boards. Keith Singery played through injury and dominated the glass with 14 rebounds along with 15 points. The dynamic trio banded together to overcome the lethal Team Dolla, 65 to 54 in what was a close & fierce contest to kick off Week 9.
Abdullah Ahamed led team Dolla with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Dolla was shorthanded this week missing some of their firepower in James Bakhit and Nate Larkin. Ahamed fought honorably along with Nate Martinez who snatched 8 boards and Elliot Adler who had 8 points while dominating defensively. Unfortunately, being on the short end of the stick for a few calls along with missing key players was too much to overcome for Dolla, they neglect the opportunity to filet Nimo and lose by 11.
6:15 PM Game: Team Showtime 68, Team FoCho 52
Showtime put together a well-rounded performance led early by Moe Hamidi who came out the gates swinging leading to his massive night. Hamidi had 17 points with 11 of them within the first 10 minutes of the first half. The star forward also added 12 rebounds. Lance Moore had his patented double-double with 17 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds and made solid contributions to his chase for the league’s triple crown for scoring. Miguel Vargas dominated hitting multiple three-pointers leading to his team-high 21 points. Vargas also contributed 9 rebounds and 7 assists for a TSP of 37.
For FoCho, Avi Fogel led the team in scoring with 20 points in what was limited minutes to his ejection arguing multiple questionable calls. Alex Cho returned to action and had a well-rounded night with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. It wasn’t easy for either side to be nice to the refs in this Week 9 matchup, FoCho 52, Showtime 68.
7:15 PM Game: Team JAM 78, Team RIZ 73
It took not one, not two, but three former-professional basketball players to overcome the strength of Team Riz in the 7:15 game. Tony Johnson had an outstanding night with 26 points, a whopping 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Johnson is solidifying himself as one of the best players in the league in what’s only his rookie campaign. Neema Mohseni had a huge game with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists but he just found out we have a website so that’s enough about him. Ali Nayab, who could be ‘The Ladies Man Passer of the Year’ because he drops so many DIMES, had 8 assists along with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Team RIZ battled in this one and despite being shorthanded and against several former pros, they held their own. Riz were led by Week 9 player of the week, Danny “The Rizman” Reilly who had a spectacular TSP of 40 with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Donovan Walton was unconscious from behind the arc en route to his 23 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Sasha Gustin returned to action and contributed nicely with 5 assists, 7 rebounds ultimately producing at TSP of 16. Dan Carey put up a TSP of 17 with 9 rebounds as the root to his solid output. Despite the courageous effort, from the classy gentlemen of Team Riz, they fall victim to the GMing of Team JAM, 78 to 73.
8:15 PM Game: Team GAS 75, Team MAKe 60
Gas put the pedal to the metal in this week 9 matchup taking the win against MAKe by 15. Garrett Pagon was leading scorer with 23 points and the jedi basketballer also grabbed 11 rebounds along with 6 assists despite being distracted by the upcoming election which is impressive. “He was passing out dimes like ballots,” someone said. Conrad Tucker found his rhythm after shaking off his hangover from Beerfest and a trip to Ibiza. Tucker contributed a TSP of 26 with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sergey Volkov had a stellar night with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Sagie Sphigelman snatched 12 rebounds and dropped 8 dimes and is one of the league’s best.
Team MAKe who seems to be somehow shorthanded every single week fought honorably fueled by a courageous effort from team leader and also known heart throb, Andy Kirkpatrick who absolutely dominated in this one with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Bo Mazhar had another excellent game proving he’s in the conversation as one of the league’s best big men with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists leading to the Ukrainian Sensation’s HUGE TSP of 30. Jordan Shimizu had a slow night to his standards, probably because he was weighed down from eating too much El Pueblo, he had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Despite Kirkpatrick’s well rounded and handsome effort, GAS speeds past a shorthanded x100 MAKe, 75 to 60.

Jay G's Week 9 Preview Sponsored by Bay Club Cafe's Juice Bar
Abdullah & James vs Nick & Jordan @ 5:15
Is it better to have loved and lost or never loved at all? Disappointment or no hope at all? If my former boo team shows up this week, they win. AB and James, hung tough the first half last week but in the second half suffered their expected reversion to the mean. Despite prodigious talent AND youth, AB and James go down again. Nick & Jordan (and my heart) minus 13.5
Alex & Avi vs Lance & Miguel @ 6:15
The game of the century! The matchup of the year! Sold out since February! Trevor & Jamie battling each other on the court rather than battling for the last girl left at closing time. Lance and Miguel's athleticism and brawn vs Alex and Avi's court savvy and touch. Moe's Ohio State roots vs Baby Gronk's 4 super bowl rings. This pick comes down to who the commissioner is more afraid of in a dark alley... Lance and Miguel minus 4.5
Tony & Ali vs Arley & Danny @ 7:15
How can the commissioner give a reliable pick on this game if Ali is off getting a swedish massage and Danny is out tending to his avocado garden? If they all show up, the commissioner is smitten with his new hoop crush Tony and his college dominance of Lehigh. Add to that my old-head infatuation with Ali and his basketball IQ - adds up to an unbeatable team. Sasha who? What's a catamount? Who is Mark Watkins? My crush and my infatuation minus 15.5
Garrett & Sagie vs Marc & Andy @ 8:15
Polymarket has Garrett favored by 37.5 but I'm going the other way. Marc and Andy led their team to a stellar first half last week and almost pulled the upset. They've been holed up in the lab trying to figure it out all season and are about to crest the mountaintop. Garrett is too distracted with the election coming up and the expected ballot harvesting to pay any attention to basketball (or Mandy). Poor Mandy. Umit and Steve Schneider are going to have to carry the team. Appropriately, Marc and Andy minus 1.5

GAS, JAM, FoCho & Showtime Victorious in Week 8
5:15 PM Game: Team GAS 65, Team RIZ 57
Gas prevailed against the charisma of Team Riz in this Week 8 matchup, as Riz were missing superstars, The Rizman-Danny Reilly & Arley Gonzalez. However, this game was unexpectedly close as a band of misfits almost snatched away the victory.
For Team Gas, Garrett Pagon showed off why he’s the original-G leading the way with 24 points, including 3 threes and 5 rebounds. Pagon claims it’s always a team effort, but his 1 assist however foreshadows he thinks otherwise. Sergey Volkov returned from vacation and produced a dominant 23 points including 4 threes. CJ Shpigelman produced an impressive TSP of 23 with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Shpigelman is also considered as one of the league’s best defenders. Travon Brown, who’s also in the running for Defensive Player of the Year has been playing like he’s in his twenties again and provided multiple silky-smooth fadeaway jumpers over tough defense. Brown also grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Conrad Tucker had a quiet night to his standards, however understandably, as he just returned from Beer Fest in Germany. Regardless of his jetlag, Tucker managed to grab 6 rebounds and produced a solid-for-having-a-hangover TSP of 9.
For Team Riz, Donovan Walton led the way with 15 points and dished 9 assists. Dan Carey had two-clutch threes and has made shots in some of the most crucial situations over the last two weeks. Dave Haas was a monster on the glass and had 8 rebounds and contributed a pair of threes. Haas had an excellent game and contributed heavily into making this matchup closer than anyone expected. Scottie Wheeler, Bay Club Media’s lead reporter, stepped in as a substitute and had an outstanding night from the distance and made every three he attempted. Wheeler nailed 4 threes contributing to his 17 points, however, he failed to grab a rebound or make an assist. Trevor Roe filled in as a substitute and did his best to replicate the Riz (game + charisma) of Reilly. Roe didn’t miss from beyond the arc and netted 3 threes leading to his 15 points. The Rizman 2.0 also grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 dimes. Despite an incredible effort to keep this one close from a team missing it’s riz, they fall short to the fire of Gas, all gas, no breaks, 65 to 57.
6:15 PM Game: Team JAM 86, Team NIMO 56
Team JAM stayed hot defeating Nimo by 30. JAM were led by Rookie of the Year and MVP candidate, Tony Johnson, who had 35 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Neema Mohseni, who aspires to be like Johnson, evident by his junior-like stat line, produced 18 points and 3 rebounds. Mohensi is having a breakout season, and if we had a comeback player of the year award, it’d be Mohseni -- as with this veteran core of leaders around the young baller, his game has blossomed into one that could put him into the conversation for league MVP. Speaking of veteran leaders, James Renner must be on the TB12 diet as he’s been turning back the clock with his performances as of late. The savvy veteran had another huge game with 16 points including 3 three-pointers while also contributing 4 rebounds. Chris Gadinier who’s proving he’s an elite defender every-single-week recorded 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Will Fogarty held his regular-dominance, producing 15 points, 4 boards and 4 assists. JAM rolls, wins by 30.
Team NIMO were without two of their MVP candidates, Nick Diciaula and Keith Singery as well as offensive stalwart, Nick Dove for this Week 8 matchup and the final score showed just how vital those players truly are to their team.
Jordan Mole wet 4 three-pointers leading to his 18 points. Mole also grabbed 3 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Michael Carey had a great night with 10 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds in what Bay Club Media is calling his breakout performance. Bo Cicak returned from injury and grabbed 4 rebounds, 3 assists and played great defense against Jam’s best players. Cicak’s game is resemblant of Tony Allen’s with his motor and premium defensive skillset. Despite NIMO’s efforts, missing three of their superstars proved to be too much to overcome while facing the juggernaut that is Team Jam, 86 to 56.
7:15 PM Game: Team FoCho 55, Team MAKe 42
Team FoCho delivered a gritty performance against Team MAKe, securing the win, 55-to-42. FoCho trailed early on as MAKe came out ferociously stunning FoCho in the first half. Team leader and heart throb, Trevor Roe, was so stunned he left the game momentarily but eventually realized he must return with his team trailing by 14. Roe returned with 5 minutes left in the first half and had his team back within 2 by halftime. Avi Fogel was the star of the night with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists leading to an incredible TSP of 43 supremely & obviously leading his team to victory but let’s talk about Roe again. Roe was unconscious from three with a pair of triples and produced 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Brett Foley was an animal on the glass soaring for 11 rebounds and he also dished 5 assists. “Foley’s a stud, he said no diddy, grabbed a ton of rebounds, he really did it all, big props to Brett man,” said Fogel. Rob Sharp brought the wood in Week 8 driving through defenders to multiple buckets ultimately leading to his TSP of 12. Sharp appears to be the glue to Team FoCho and his plus-minus would likely lead the league. FoCho took the reins back from MAKe, ultimately riding off into the sunset winning by 13, FoCho 55, MAKe 42.
Team MAKe came out hot and stole the momentum from opening tip off when Marc Mueseler soared above everyone to steal first possession for his team and set the tone. MAKe was dominating early and led by more than 10 in the first half. MAKe’s leading scorers were Jordan Shimizu and Dave Clark who each produced 11 points. Andy Kirkpatrick filled up the stat line with 10 boards, 5 assists and 9 points on 3 three-pointers. Mueseler’s vertical was on full display as he also snatched 10 rebounds contributing to a well-rounded TSP of 18. Bo Mazhar had a TSP on 9, scoring 5 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and contributing 1 assist. Despite, the early firepower from MAKe, they eventually lost their mojo to Fogel and crew, 55 to 42.
8:15 PM Game: Team Showtime 76, Team Dolla 46
Appropriate for a team named Showtime, they played in the grand finale Tuesday night and put on a show that left the crowd asking for an encore. Miguel Vargas, who has recently moved to 2nd in the MVP conversation, led the way with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. “This double-double thing is easy,” proclaimed Vargas. Lance Moore -- to no one’s surprise, except maybe Bay Club Media’s very own Jay Gonzalez, -- also had a spectacular night & double-double, recording 18 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists moving Moore into the top 2 for all of the league’s recorded stats. Moore is the league’s leading scorer, assist maker, and 2nd to the very talented Trevor Roe in Rebounds. Moore could very well take the league’s first ever triple crown if he keeps producing as he has and his chase for the TC is worth tracking as we close out the season. Moe Hamidi, Thair Daoud and Kieran Betts were also standout performers for Showtime. Hamidi produced 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Daoud snatched 8 rebounds and dished two dimes. Betts grabbed 6 boards and contributed 2 assists. Worth noting, Showtime has the league lead for team points scored and defensively they rank #1 as well with the least points allowed so far through Week 8.
Team Dolla were without the 2nd overall pick in the coveted and beloved Bay Club Draft, Nate Larkin. Regardless of missing one of their superstar talents, Dolla played well and kept it close throughout the first half before ultimately running out of gas in the second. James Bakhit led Dolla in scoring with 16 points. Abdullah Ahamed contributed a TSP of 20 with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Ahamed played his tail off and showcased his tremendous internal fortitude leading his team into making this one competitive. Elliott Adler, who has an amazing nickname, the Matzah Baller, snatched an outstanding 12 rebounds and dished 3 assists. “Now that’s more like it,” said the Matzah Baller when asked about his rebound statistics. Bo Mazhar rekindled his competitive partnership with Ahamed and stepped in admirably as a substitute and had a heck of a game, the “Ukrainian Sensation” produced 15 hard-fought points in the paint and snatched 9 rebounds. Despite an impressive performance that truly displayed the will power and drive of Dolla, they fall short to the Goliath of the league in Showtime, 76 to 46.

Garrett & Sagie vs Arley & Danny @ 5:15
Garrett without Sergei is like Moe without Curly or Simon without Garfunkel - it just doesn't work. If Sergei shows up, he wins. On the other hand, Danny's 13th ranked draft pick Dan "the Catamount" Carey is quietly picking up where he left off when he was registering triple doubles at Torrey Pines. Sergei minus 9.5 or the Catamount minus 4.5 if Sergei doesn't show.
Ali & Tony vs Jordan & Nick @ 6:15
Much like Stella, Ali is getting his groove back and Tony is unstoppable. My former romantic interests Jordan and Nick will never win me back as I've moved on. Ali minus 11.5
Mark & Andy vs Avi & Alex @ 7:15
Mark & Andy keep taking what everyone throws at them and just keep getting back up. I admire their plucky never-say-die attitude despite being so bad at basketball. Even if Avi and Alex are out this week, I'm going Avi and Alex minus 27.5

Showtime dominates in landslide win
5:15 PM Game: Team Showtime 115, Team MAKe 55
In the 5:15 matchup, Team Showtime put on a blinding show of highlights en route to a landslide victory. Showtime were led by their dynamic duo, Lance Moore & Miguel Vargas, who are more resemblant of Sonic & Knuckles than mere mortals with their videogame like performances. Moore set a league record with 48 points and dished out 14 assists -- also a league record – and barely missed recording the league’s first recorded triple-double with 9 rebounds. The MVP front-runner was dialed to say the least. Miguel Vargas, also an MVP candidate, produced 27 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Moe Hamidi recorded 16 points, dished 8 dimes and had snatched 5 rebounds. Kieran Betts had 11 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. KP Popovic had an outstanding performance showing why he’s King Fish with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Team MAKe were led by Jordan Shimizu who produced 16 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Bo Mazhar had 13 points on numerous dazzling post-moves reminiscent of the Bay Club’s version of Nikola Jokic! Marc Mueseler had another well-rounded effort with 10 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds for an impressive TSP of 20. Dave Clark scored 9 points along and snatched 4 rebounds. Andy Kirkpatrick had 5 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds. It was an off night for MAKe unfortunately and they couldn’t keep up with the firepower of Showtime, MAKe 55, Showtime, 115.
GAS pulls away late in a nailbiter against Dolla
6:15 PM Game: Team GAS 66, Team Dolla, 65
Team GAS had the most well-rounded team effort for scoring on the season with 4 of their starting 5 scoring 14-points or more. Travon Brown and Umit Suri led the way with 17 points each and both have been on fire as of late. Garrett Pagon scored 16 points, dropped 8 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds producing a dominant TSP of 30. Sagi Shpigelman dazzled the audience with 14 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds and played an excellent point guard. Steve Schneider showed everyone he still has the juice and produced a TSP of 6 while playing elite defense.
For Team Dolla, Nate Larkin led the way with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. James Bakhit, the reigning Bay Club Café Player of the Week, had another dynamic performance with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Elliot Adler made time to sneak away from his beautiful new home and dominated the boards with 6 rebounds, along with contributing 9 points and the Matzah-BALLER also dished 2 dimes. Nate Martinez was an animal on the glass recording 6 rebounds and provided tenacious defense contributing to several stops for his team defensively. Martinez, who is reminiscent to an energizer bunny, because he just keeps going, also set countless screens to set up his team’s scorers along with contributing 6 points himself and providing an additional 4 assists. Abdullah Ahamed is coming off injury from what sources are calling “an intense dental procedure”. Nonetheless, Ahamed played through it admirably and contributed a TSP of 8 and provided immense leadership guiding his team of superstars in this hard-fought battle. Mo Correria also produced a TSP of 8 with limited touches. In the end, despite the well-rounded effort for Team Dolla, GAS accelerated to victory in the most exciting game of the night, 66 to 65.
JAM looks like AND-1 mixtape team in blowout win against Nimo
7:15 PM Game: Team JAM 108, Team Nimo 80
Team JAM were led by Tony Johnson who has fully thrusted himself into the MVP conversation with another outstanding performance dropping 47 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Ali Nayab dropped an eye-popping 13 assists and 6 rebounds contributing to an impressive TSP of 30. Neema Mohseni, who thankfully wore a shirt this week dropped 26 points along with dishing 4 assists. James Renner showed he’s not just a 40+ league superstar and in fact, that he might be the best veteran in the league. Renner had a huge performance with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists including an impressive behind the back pass. Will Fogarty scored 6 points along with 6 assists and 3 rebounds. Team JAM looked more like Team AND-1 in this Week 7 battle of behemoths, they defeat Nimo, 108 to 80.
Team Nimo were led by the charismatic & charming MVP candidate, Nick Diciaula who had a tremendous night with 35 points including 6 three-pointers. The superstar-shooting guard also contributed 8 rebounds and 8 assists for a dominant TSP of 51. “He’s the MVP, I’ve seen enough,” said enthused Bay Club Media Reporter, Scottie Wheeler. Diciaula’s performance was supported by Jordan Mole who put together another well-rounded effort with 18 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. Nick Dove was feeling it from the field once again with a trio of three-pointers contributing to his scoring output of 13. Dove also dished 6 dimes. Michael Carey had a great all-around effort scoring 10 points contributing to a TSP of 17. Matthew St. John had a TSP of 10 and played his role valiantly. Ultimately, Nimo fell victim to a night where everything was clicking for Team JAM, 108 to 80.
Team RIZ outlasts FoCho in comeback Win
8:15 PM Game: Team Rizz 61, Team FoCHo 54
In the finale, Team Riz and Team FoCho put on a display of their talents in a back-and-forth showdown that ultimately resulted in Team Riz as victorious. Riz were led by Danny Reilly who snatched a league-record and impressive 16 rebounds. Reilly also contributed 21 points and provided 3 assists. Mark Watkins had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Donovan Walton had 12 points as well -- along with 3 assists and 4 rebounds. Arley Gonzalez scored 8 points, 4 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds. Dan Carey had a clutch bucket late in the 2nd half to seal the victory. Carey had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Team Riz ultimately out-gamed FoCho in this Week 7 matchup of superstar talents, 61 to 54.
Team FoCho were without the handsome & talented, Alex Cho, unfortunately, leaving just Trevor Roe to be the Shake to Avi’s Bake which is a less than ideal scenario, per sources close to BCM. Fogel led the charge in an honorable effort with 23 points and 4 assists. Ben Stoodley produced a TSP of 18 on his well-rounded effort producing 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Garrett Pagon did his best Alex Cho-impression contributing 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Roe snatched 11 rebounds, 3 assists and scored 6 points for a TSP of 20. Rob Sharp had 5 rebounds and 3 assists and wishes we kept stats for steals because he had several. BCM unbiasedly claims Sharp had at least 10 steals. “Bro has really long arms,” Roe said. Despite the well-rounded effort from Team FoCho it wasn’t enough to secure their halftime lead and bring home the victory, Riz wins, 61 to 54.
###
Marc & Andy vs Lance & Miguel @ 5:15
Lolol - Lance & Miguel minus a hundred
AB & James vs Garrett & Sagie @ 6:15
I sure could like this AB team if I had any idea who was going to show up. Their third best talent had 46 last week while the two faces of the franchise had 6 and 4 points. My favorite player on the team, Nate Martinez, also from mother Spain, is limping around like he's trying to qualify for disability benefits. Meanwhile, Garrett proved last week that he can't get it done without help from Russia. I do like the moxy of this team but not this week - AB & James minus 3.5
Jordan & Nick vs Ali & Tony @ 7:15
Despite being burned a thousand times by Jordan & Nick, I'm going back to this fantastic team (on paper). They've wilted in the big moments - time and again - but they still complete me. Ali & Tony are arguably the two best talents in the gym, if they could be in the gym at the same time. I hate to pick against Ali, because he doesn't have much time left, but Jordan & Nick minus 11.5
Arley & Danny vs Alex & Avi @ 8:15
With no Ben, Alex and Brett last week, and an astoundingly supbar substitution effort by Garrett, Alex & Avi couldn't compete and lost - but remain favorites to make the championship game. There are three teams in the league with outstanding starting fives and this certainly is one of them. It's usually tough to decipher what kind of team Arley & Danny are, but it won't be tough this week. Maybe if Sasha appears out of the cornfield for the first time this season they might have a chance. But certainly not this week - Alex and Avi roll again minus 17.5

Team Dolla Cashes Out in Showdown Against Team JAM
5:15 PM – Team Dolla 73, Team JAM 69
In a hard-fought battle from both sides, Team Dolla triumphed over Team JAM with a final score of 73-69. The night belonged to James Bakhit, whose electrifying performance lit up the scoreboard with a staggering 46 points, underscoring his status as a league standout. Mo Correria added 9 points, but it was Bakhit’s sheer dominance that propelled Team Dolla to victory. Abdullah Ahamed contributed 4 points and 3 assists, while Nate Larkin and Nate Martinez chipped in with 6 and 4 points, respectively, showcasing a well-rounded effort from Dolla.
Team JAM, fielding a shorthanded squad, relied heavily on their substitutes. Neema Mohseni emerged as the standout performer with 19 points and 3 assists, keeping his team competitive throughout the contest. Will Fogarty contributed 13 points, while Chris Gardinier was a force on the boards, pulling down 8 rebounds. Despite a valiant effort, Team JAM fell just short, 73 to 69.
Team RIZ Shows Off Their Game Against Team MAKe
6:15 PM – Team RIZ 64, Team MAKe 45
In a brilliant display of teamwork and finesse, Team RIZ showed off their game against Team MAKe with a decisive 64-45 win. The Rizman himself, Danny Reilly, delivered a sensational performance, notching 31 points and 11 rebounds to secure the league's second-ever double-double, shattering his own record in the process. Arley Gonazles also shined brightly, contributing 11 points and 8 rebounds nearly recording a double-double as well. The dynamic duo seem to be gelling just in time for postseason play.
For Team MAKe, Jordan Shimizu emerged as the leading scorer with 25 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with RIZ's offensive onslaught. Andy Kirkpatrick and Justin Messina added 10 and 7 points, respectively, while Marc Mueseler returned from vacation with a well-rounded performance, showcasing that it’s not just his game off the court that’s impressive. However, Mueseler’s riz wasn’t enough to overcome Team Riz in this one, MAKe falls short, 64 to 45.
Showtime Shines Bright in Win Over FoCho
7:15 PM – Team Showtime 61, Team FoCho 46
Team Showtime put together a dominant performance defeating Team FoCho 61-46. Lance Moore led the charge with 21 points, complemented by 3 assists and 4 rebounds showing off why he’s considered one the league’s fiercest competitors. Miguel Vargas continued his impressive season with 20 points, proving to be reliable for at least 20 points a week. Moe Hamidi had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Jamie Arnold added valuable contributions with 9 points and dished out 5 assists in a display of his playmaking ability. Thair Daoud had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists and put together another strong defensive performance.
Team FoCho was short-handed without their top 3 picks, Alex Cho, Ben Stoodley and Brett Foley but still put up a fight in this one. FoCho were led by Avi Fogel who had 17 points along with 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Garrett Pagon stood in admirably for Cho and contributed 19 points and snatched so many rebounds the scorekeeper lost count. Ryan Lynn had 5 points along with 3 rebounds. Trevor Roe had 7 points and 9 boards on several of his own missed shots enabling him to sneak in as the league leader for rebounds.
Showtime’s firepower was too much for FoCho in this one and they prevail with a commanding win, 61 to 46.

Travon Brown was leading scorer for GAS with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Umit Suri had a fantastic night with 21 points along with 4 rebounds. Ali & Tony vs AB & James @ 5:15pm
No one on AB's team showed up last week and they forfeited and even the two that showed up didn't show up. However, James is recovered from his ankle boo boo and if AB can get his team of offensive wunderkinds to show up, they can be formidable (can be, not will be). On the other hand, Ali finally got a taste of winning this past week and isn't about to let James Renner's consistently and unsurprisingly poor production continue to hold him back like it has for 13 years in basketball and business. Watch out in this game for Nate, he's gotten tired of the locker room ridicule of his less than bulbous post-surgery calf and is going to take it out on Will and his more proportionate calves... Ali/Tony minus 7.5
Danny & Arley vs Marc & Andy @ 6:15pm
Hopefully, my pro-Arley pick this week will stop all of the nasty emails I've been getting from my ne'er-do-well Gonzalez cousins for continuing to predict bad things for my blood relative Arley. If Danny shows up (or his brother impersonating Danny), it'll be a big win. With Jordan's 3s carrying Marc's team, and Justin, straight off the boat from the upper west side of NYC in the paint, this team should be above .500. But alas, no. My mommy taught me that if I didn't have anything nice to say about Marc & Andy's team, I shouldn't say anything at all. No chance Vanderbilt wins this game - Danny/Arley minus 17.5
Alex & Avi vs Lance & Miguel @ 7:15pm
Game of the century. Game of the year. Not. Alex, ahead of this matchup that has been sold out for months, turned tail and ran, concocting some lame excuse about an MIT pocket-protector reunion in Boston. Avi, all alone, with only half-shirt wearing calendar boy Trevor and Brett "baby Gronk" Foley to protect him, suffers his worst defeat since he scored 2 points in a humiliating scrimmage loss to the Canyon Crest girls team in 2004. Lance and Miguel, much like Laurel and Hardy's March of the Wooden Soldiers, will steamroll again this week on the unmuscled backs of Thair and Jamie. Thair & Jamie minus 22.5
Nick & Jordan vs Garrett & Sagie @ 8:15pm
Ah yes, the game of the night. I made clear of my preseason favorites and prognosticated best starting 5 in the league were Team Mole, but that apparently was back when I was hopped up on goofballs and not seeing straight. Under the harsh light of day, Jordan and Nick lost 2 in a row and only avoided a 3rd because of a forfeit. I'm not placing blame on anyone but the Internet says that Keith and Bo are the only players not available for trade. Tough to continue to stan these underperformers especially against the resurgent and showing-up Garrett and Sagie. Sergei, Umit and Conrad (first time in global history that those 3 names were in the same sentence) are carrying this team while Garrett continues to take his shirt off on the sidelines trying to catch the eye of Lance and Miguel. I accept that I loved and lost with Team Mole but I'm over it and Garrett & Sagie minus 5.5
