5:15 PM Game: Team FoCho Dominates Team MAKe – 82 to 33

Leading the charge for Focho was Avi Fogel who put on a scoring clinic racking up 23 points while dishing out 4 assists and pulling down 4 rebounds. Fogel’s electric display of talent was complimented by Alex Cho who added 14 points with 7 assists and 4 rebounds. The dynamic duo sparked an explosive first half that left Team MAKe reeling.

Brett Foley contributed significantly with 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Ben Stoodley showcased his versatility with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Trevor Roe had 10 points including a beautiful three-pointer along with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and was 3 of 4 from the free throw line. Rob Sharp had 7 rebounds and 4 points in 3 minutes and let his teammates coast to victory after sealing the win for his team. Ryan Lynn also had a breakout performance, scoring 6 points, dishing 2 dimes and grabbing 4 boards, showcasing Team FoCho’s versatility.

On the other side, Team MAKe struggled without their stars, Marc Mueseler and Jordan Shimizu, who were sidelined due to injury. Andy Kirkpatrick did his best to hold the fort, leading with 14 points, but it was clear that without their key players, Team MAKe couldn’t compete. Dave Clark added 11 points, but as the game wore on, frustration began to mount, epitomized by Justin Messina’s technical foul. Team MAKe falls short to the well-rounded & handsome Team FoCho, 82 to 33.

6:15 PM Game: Team Nimo Claims Victory by Default as Team Dolla Forfeits – 56 to 53

Team Dolla only had two rostered players so therefore this Week 5 matchup resulted in a forfeit.

Nate Martinez took his opportunity to lead the pack and posted a dominant double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, supplemented by 5 assists. Mo Correria was the only other member of Dolla, he had 13 points including 2 three-pointers that nearly hit the ceiling on their way to the back of the net along with 2 assists.

Team Nimo were led by Keith Singery who was schooling everyone with 26 points and 10 rebounds along with 3 assists. Jordan Mole had 10 points including two three-pointers. Nick Dove had 9 points on a trio of three-pointers along with 4 rebounds. Bo Cicak had 5 points, 5 rebounds and an outstanding defensive game. NIMO swims to victory in this one by default, 56 to 53.

7:15 PM Game: Team Showtime burns Team GAS – 67 to 44

In a matchup that promised fireworks, Team Showtime delivered a thrilling performance, defeating Team GAS 67-44. Lance Moore emerged as the star of the night, dazzling fans and commissioner Jay Gonzalez with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. His ability to score at will left defenders scrambling and energized the sold-out crowd. Miguel Vargas was equally impressive, pouring in 21 points and was seemingly unstoppable in the paint with a staggering 9 of his 10 field goals coming from inside the arc. Moe Hamidi had 8 points along with 6 rebounds. Kieran Betts displayed all-around excellence with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. KP Popovic reportedly wet a three-pointer, snatched a rebound and divvied out an assist. Jamie Arnold put together another outstanding defensive performance putting a stronghold on his lead for Defensive Player of the Year. Thair Daoud also had another outstanding defensive night and grabbed 5 rebounds.

Sergey Volkov led Team GAS with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists making a statement to all that the S in G-A-S stands for Sergey. Garrett Pagon had 7 points along with 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Conrad Tucker had 8 points along with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Sagi Shpigelman returned from injury and posted a solid stat line with 11 points along with 3 rebounds. Despite their efforts, GAS ultimately comes up empty against Showtime, 67 to 44.

8:15 PM Game: Team JAM Outduels Team RIZ in High-Scoring Affair – 79 to 60

Tony Johnson realized we were keeping stats and decided to enforce his will and show that he’s one of the most talented players in the league with an eye-popping 32 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. “I’m the MVP, don’t forget about me, I’m the best player in the league,” said Johnson allegedly. Ali Nayab had another fantastic all-around performance with 13 points and 8 assists. Neema Mohseni had 17 points and seems to be reaching his potential now with the guidance, charisma and leadership from captain Nayab. Will Fogarty had 7 points and 7 rebounds along with 3 assists. Chris Gardinier had another easy 10 points along with 6 rebounds and stubborn defense. James Renner was out with an injury. JAM out rizzes Team RIZ in this one, 79 to 60.

Week 5 Preview by Jay G. sponsored by Bay Club's Recovery Center

5:15 PM - FoCho vs MAKe

Just as yesteryear's superstars Andy/Mark are hanging on by a thin thread at 2-2, here comes their season funeral at the younger and more attractive hands of Avi and Alex (and Trevor). Please pass along your condolences as they go down in a fatal cauldron of blame and self doubt. Avi/Alex minus 21.5

6:15 PM - Dolla vs Nimo

As I sit and marvel at the individual talent on AB & James' team, I also marvel at those "ballers" putting up 35 total points last week. 35! Tough to bet against that type of offensive production, but team-first Team America of Nick & Jordan and their selfless passing are looking at this as a bye week. Nick/Jordan minus 9.5

7:15 PM - Showtime vs GAS

Daddy & Baby Daddy (you decide who is who) are on a mission to kill everyone - including the commissioner - and have been doing an excellent job of it so far. Sadly, Garrett is apparently hiding in a beer locker in the back room of McP's in Coronado, afraid to face Miguel's superior talents. Sergei, bless his heart, believes his team will be rising from the cellar, but they have no chance if Garrett and Sagei are too afraid to show up. Team Creatine minus 47.5

8:15 PM - Riz vs JAM

Danny & Arley should have an easy week against winless Ali & Tony, but not this week. Ali is tired of losing and has been trying to trade James Renner all week. After two straight wins. Arley has been gorging on Mama Gonzalez' home country paella and is now even fatter and slower. Danny is starting to get so cocky, he even said something the other day.... Ali & Tony minus 11.5

5:15 PM – Team Lance (SHOWTIME) defeated Team MOLE (NIMO) 67 to 38

For Team SHOWTIME, Lance Moore and Miguel Vargas led the way with 23 points each. Moore had 4 assists and 5 rebounds and further solidified his status as the favorite for league MVP leading his team to another convincing victory. Vargas had 5 rebounds along with 2 assists. Moe Hamidi had 8 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Jamie Arnold had 6 points along with 4 rebounds and had another outstanding defensive performance. KP Popovic had 4 points on two patented bank shots along with 2 rebounds. Thair Daoud had another gritty all-around performance and him along with Arnold and Hamidi are three of the league's toughest defenders. Showtime sharks Nimo, 67 to 38.

For Team NIMO, Nick Diciaula led the team with another spectacular performance with 16 points with 4 three-pointers and 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Jordan Mole had a quiet night for his standards with 6 points and 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Nick Dove had 6 points. Keith Singery contributed 7 points and was quiet on the boards with 1 rebound. (Stat check) Bo Cicak led the team in rebounds again with 8 and contributed 3 points. In BCM's opinion Cicak is one of the league’s best defenders, although, he admits he can’t guard Lance, but hey who can? Ultimately, Nimo ended up treading water, they fall short to the brights lights of Showtime, 67 to 38.

6:15 PM – Team NewA2 (FoCho) defeated Team ALI (JAM), 78 to 68

For Team FoCho, Alex Cho led the way with a massive yet casual 44 points including 7 three-pointers. Avi Fogel had a great night and enforced his will with 18 points and soared above opponents repeatedly with 7 rebounds. Fogel chipped in 4 assists as well. Trevor Roe had 8 rebounds and 5 assists and 2 missed layups and his aspirations to become league MVP seem to be dwindling. "I was fouled!," Roe cried. Ben Stoodley dominated in the paint with 11 points and 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Rob Sharp somehow managed to snatch 7 rebounds in limited time on the court and it seemed like he had more rebounds than minutes. "I can do a lot in one minute," said Sharp. Ryan Lynn hit the most difficult shot of the night with a baseline fadeaway against tight defense that made him fall to the floor resulting in a backflip as the ball swished through the net. Team FoCho continued their dominance and moved to 4-0 against Team JAM, 78 to 68.

For Team JAM, Anthony Nayab led the way with 23 points showing father is indeed like son and that this kid is also a total baller. Neema Mohseni sped past defenders all night and had 14 points with 5 rebounds. Ali Nayab had 9 points and led the team in assists with 9 and perfectly orchestrated his team’s offense. The favorite for 6th man of the year, James Renner got hot from the field after his Tylenol kicked in and he chipped in 5 points along with 3 rebounds and 2 assists showing the critics that the old man is still versatile and a dynamic contributor. Will Fogarty was unstoppable at times and had a dominant 13 points along with 4 rebounds. Chris Gardinier had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and kept his team levelheaded with some real solid vibes all around per sources close to Bay Club Media. It was an honorable performance for Team JAM but in the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome the dynamic duo of Fogel and Cho.

7:15 PM – Team Garrett (GAS) defeated Team MAKe, 66 to 46

For Team GAS, Conrad Tucker led the way with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and continued his great season showing why he’s considered one of the league’s best. Sergey Volkov had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists and 1 technical for celebrating too ferociously after an And-1. Travon Brown had a big night with 6 points, 3 assists and 6 rebounds and captained the ship for Team GAS. Umit Suri had a huge night as well with 13 points including two silky smooth three-pointers, “That kid has a great jump shot,” said Bay Club MVP candidate, Avi Fogel. Suri also chipped in with 4 assists along with copious amounts of swag.

For Team MAKe, Andy Kirkpatrick led the way with a team-high 19 points including a massive 5 three-pointers including his patented three-point floater. Jordan Shimizu had 12 points and was hitting three-pointers over double and sometimes triple coverage. Bo Mazhar had a spectacular 8 points on dazzling post moves along with 6 rebounds. Marc Mueseler had 7 rebounds and 5 assists continuing his reputation as a do-it-all player similar to a LeBron James-Bay Club Version. Justin Messina had 6 points and provided energy for the team when they needed it most. John Fusca was held scoreless but had 2 rebounds and numerous screens setting up Kirkpatrick for greatness. Although Kirkpatrick went on a heater in the second half, ultimately it wasn’t enough to overcome the Gas, GAS blows by MAKe, 66 to 46.

8:15 PM – Team Reilly (RIZ) defeated Team Abdullah (DOLLA), 60 to 35

For Team DOLLA, Abdullah Ahamed had 16 points and gave his best effort to enforce his will and lead his team to victory despite playing without his core co-star, James Bakhit. Ahamed was a force all game with drives to the hoop and acrobatic finishes defying the odds to find the back of the net. Nate Larkin had 14 points including 4 three-pointers from well beyond the arc. The two playmakers kept it exciting but uitimately fell short to Team RIZ, 60 to 35.

For Team RIZ, Donovan Walton’s athleticism was on full display as he led the way with 21 points and 5 rebounds while Danny Reilly contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds for the league’s first ever recorded double-double. Bradley Mitchell had two three-pointers and played stingy defense. Dan Carey had 11 points with 3 three-pointers continuing his breakout season. Arley Gonzalez had 9 points and 3 assists and played elite-level defense while captaining the ship & running the point for his team. RIZ rolls past Dolla, 60 to 35.

Week 4 Preview

CARMEL VALLEY, CA: TUESDAY, SEPT 24, 2024

By Jay Gonzalez | Bay Club Basketball News

PUBLISHED:

Two things have become apparent in the first 3 weeks, don't tug on Superman's cape and nobody puts baby in a corner. Lance & Miguel don't like to be publicly doubted and have thanked me for inspiring them to up their game. However, despite their second half meltdown last Tuesday, Jordan & Nick are still a favorite to make the finals but only because Alex turns into a pumpkin and disappears in November and Avi doesn't like to be alone. But tomorrow, despite the best starting five in the league, Jordan & Nick go down again to the superior muscle tone of the bash brothers.

6:15 - FoCho vs JAM (FoCho -13.5)

A hobbled Ali and a Neema no-show will not work out this week against G-league hopefuls Avi & Alex. However, if James Renner can lose 30lbs by tomorrow and double his non-existent vertical, maybe Ali will have a chance. But with athletic Trevor and Bo grabbing every rebound, it is unlikely to be anything but a blowout.

7:15 - GAS vs MAKe (GAS -15.5)

Garrett and Sagie are no shows this week which means the worst team in the league, armchair athletes Mark and Andy will improve their record to 3-1. Unless Sergei can work some magic or Travon can have a 2004 flashback, Garrett and Sagie will drop to 1-3. If Garrett ever decides to abandon the healing waters of Coronado and drive up to the Bay Club, his team will be formidable. Until then - basement dweller.

8:15 - Dolla vs RIZ (Dolla -11.5)

If team AB fully shows up, they will win. If they don't, they won't. Similarly, despite getting a win last week, Arley needs Sasha to be at full strength. As he is the league representative of my people, I really want to pick Arley in this game but I fear AB might be at full strength and that will not bode well for la familia de Gonzalez... Over under on technicals for AB is 1.5.

CARMEL VALLEY, CA: WEDNESDAY, SEPT 18, 2024

By Trevor Roe | Bay Club Basketball News

Team NewA2, MAKe, Reilly, and Lance Shine Bright in Dominant Wins

5:15 PM Game: Team NewA2 71, Team Mole 55

In a commanding performance, Team NewA2 cruised to a decisive 71-55 victory over Team Mole. Team NewA2 were fueled by the dynamic duo and MVP favorites: Avi Fogel and Alex Cho. Fogel poured in a game-high 28 points and hit just about any shot he wanted. Cho added 25 with non-stop penetration to the basket. NewA2’s attack also featured Brett Foley and Ben Stoodley contributing 6 points each while playing spectacular defense, shutting down some of Team Mole’s key players. “Foley is an animal, that's mini-gronk right there,” said his athletic teammate, Trevor Roe. Roe, Ryan Lynn, and Rob Sharp provided the good vibes and kept their team locked in and fired up with their natural-born leadership skills and hyping capabilities. Lynn hit a silky-smooth jumper from the baseline that had the crowd roaring. Roe led the way for his team in rebounds with 10 and had a highlight reel block that in his head made up for his poor offensive performance. (However, it did not)

Team Mole’s Nick Diciaula is quietly having a huge season and has put his name on the Bay Club Media’s radar for league MVP. Diciaula led his squad with 23 points and brought his team back with a run of three-consecutive 3-pointers in the second half. It did make things interesting momentarily, but in the end, it wasn’t quite enough to counter NewA2’s relentless offense. Jordan Mole found his rhythm from beyond the arc, netting 15 points on five three-pointers along with an easy 7 rebounds. Bo Cicak dominated the boards with a league-high and an almost unbelievable 15 rebounds along with 6 assists. However, NewA2 took this one, 71 to 55.

6:15 PM Game: Team MAKe 64, Team AB 54

Team MAKe overcame Team AB with a 64-to-54 tough-fought victory that went down to the final minutes, led by Jordan Shimizu’s insane offensive performance. Shimizu lit it up for 31 points, including seven three-pointers, proving why is considered one of Bay Club’s most threatening scoring threats from long distance. Andy Kirkpatrick and Dave Clark complemented Shimizu's effort with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Kirkpatrick lived at the free throw line and sealed the game when it mattered most hitting clutch free throws to close it out. Marc Mueseler showcased his do-it-all capabilities with 6 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds, though slightly missing his mark for 6 boards.

For Team AB, Abdullah Ahamed led the charge with 24 points, showcasing his relentless scoring ability with drive after drive to the hoop. Nate Larkin dropped a cool 17 points with several drives and step throughs in the paint. Nate Martinez contributed 10 points, played elite defense and contributed 8 rebounds though he failed to break his league record of 42 screens. Mo Correia was late to the party but supplied a huge boost in energy and effort for the team. When Ahamed is dialed in, there's no disputing that this team is one of the most lethal in the league and this matchup was truly a nailbater that could have gone either way. It seems to BCM that Team AB may have gotten the short end of the stick on foul calls late in the game, yet the team fought honorably and almost pulled it off. Despite their efforts, in the end, Team AB ultimately fell short, 64 to 54.

7:15 PM Game: Team Reilly 73, Team Garrett 40

Team Reilly delivered a stunning performance against a strong opponent, Team Garrett, securing a 73-40 blowout win. Donovan Walton emerged as a key contributor as a substitute -- for the missing first-round and second round picks, Sasha Gustin and Phil Roffi -- showing he's a 2-for-1 type of talent dropping 24 points and hitting 4 three-pointers. Danny Reilly added 14 points while Dan Carey had a breakout performance with 19 points, including 5 shots from downtown, putting himself firmly on the league’s radar for the coveted Jay Gonzalez Rookie of the Year.

Team Garrett, missing MVP candidate, Garrett Pagon, struggled to score in this one. Superstar first-year-player, Sergei Volkov did his best to carry the team with 24 points, but the lack of scoring support proved costly. Travon Brown had 7 points and was dominant on the glass and defensively. Conrad Tucker relentless ran the fast break and dropped several dimes. Tucker also found it from long distance and put together a gritty defensive performance and is one of the league’s best defenders. Though, ultimately it was a night to forget for Team Garrett as they were outmatched on both ends of the court, 73 to 40.

8:15 PM Game: Team Lance 94, Team Ali 57

In the finale, Team Lance dominated Team Ali with a staggering 94-57 victory in what was their second-consecutive win by 37 or more. Lance Moore supplanted himself as favorite for league MVP with a week-high 35 points while showcasing that he’s not only a scoring threat but an all-around-contributor adding a league-high 6 assists along with 6 rebounds. Miguel Vargas entered the MVP race himself contributing the week’s second-highest point total with 33. Vargas’ athleticism was on full display and at times he seemed unstoppable as he relentlessly drove to the basket with 13 of his field goals being from within the arc. Moe Hamadi added 10 points of his own while volunteering to defend the opponent’s best player weekly for the greater-good of his team. “We need to keep those boys rested, I got this,” said Hamadi. Hamadi who has great teeth and is a dental hygienist in his off the court life, is truly showing he’s a threat on both sides of the ball per Bay Club Media's experts and we're impressed. Thair Daoud was also a menace Tuesday night with several stops, steals and rebounds. Team Lance is announcing their presence with authority in Fall '24 with another decisive victory, 94 to 57.

Team Ali was led by Ali Nayab who had 23 points including 4 three-pointers. Tony Johnson had 11 points and set up Nayab for several scoring opportunities. Will Fogarty had 12 points and seemed to find his shot from long distance. James Renner had 5 points, several boards, assists and one ball to the back that created a ruckus. Justin Crane had 4 points and passed the ball well and had his team clicking at times. Chris Gardinier had a great all-around performance contributing from the field along with 4 rebounds and stout defense. Time will tell if Team Ali can pick up the pieces and make a run for this year's beloved Bay Club title, I wouldnt count them out just yet. Stay tuned.

9/17/2024Week 3 Preview

By Jay Gonzalez | Bay Club Basketball News

CARMEL VALLEY, CA

Week 3 Preview

Jordan & Nick vs Alex & Avi @ 5:15

I'm not sure which is more impressive - Avi and Alex's 53 points per game or their 63 shots per game. While certainly a prolific scoring duo, they are no match for this commissioner's early season predicted champion, the 5 headed monster of Nick/Nick/Keith/Jordan/Bo. Tough to ever pick against two excellent former college players in Alex and Avi, but they have no chance this week. 5 headed monster minus 7.5

Mark & Andy vs AB & James @ 6:15

AB suffered greatly last week after losing Brad Mitchell to front office shenanigans while Mark and Andy are stuck in the denial phase of the 5 stages of grief about their basketball future. Rumor has it that Nate and James were out last week due to trade demands. If Fusca starts to produce like no one has ever suggested he could, Andy and Marc might have a chance, but I don't see it. AB & James minus 5.5

Garrett & Sagie vs Danny & Arley @ 7:15

Garrett barely beat a 14yr old last week and Danny was hammered by 40. Forty? I like Garrett's moxy, and really like his collusion with Sergei but feel like I've got to throw Danny and Arley a bone. But with Mark Watkins in the sunset of his barely mediocre basketball career, I can't do it. Garrett and Sagie minus 15.5

Ali & Tony vs Miguel & Lance @ 8:15

Tough sledding for Tony when Ali is hurt week after week despite James Renner closing his eyes and hitting a couple of shots. Hard to score against or defend against McGwire and Canseco but if Rob develops a 3pt shot in the next day and Will doubles in size, they might stop the bash brothers from beating them by 30. But I don't think so. Gold's Gym minus 24.5

9/11/2024Week 2 Recap - Post Game Wrap Up

CARMEL VALLEY, CA: WEDNESDAY, SEPT 11, 2024

WEEK 2 RECAP & STANDOUT PERFORMANCES

5:15 PM – Team Mole defeats Team MAKe, 68-50

In the 5:15 PM game, Team Mole defeated Team MAKe 68-to-50. Nick Diciaula led the way in scoring with 18 points. Jordan Mole produced 15 points and had a league-leading 9 rebounds showing why he’s considered one of the league’s best & most diverse players. Nick Dove had 15 points showcasing his championship pedigree, while Keith Singery had 10 points, respectively. Singery also added 7 rebounds.

Team MAKe were led by Jordan Shimizu's six three-pointers along with the resurgent, Bo Mazhar who scored 12 points. Andy Kirkpatrick was shut down and struggled to find his rhythm with a total of 2 points on a pair of free throws. Marc Mueseler chipped in 7 points while battling through a back injury for the betterment of his team. Despite’s Mueseler’s courage and heart, MAKe fell to Team Mole, 68 to 50.

6:15 PM – Team Garrett surges past Team Ali, 75-68

In the 6:15 PM game, Team Garrett defeated Team Ali by a score of 75 to 68 in a nailbiter. Team Garrett was led by early-season MVP favorite, Garrett Pagon who had his second-consecutive 26-point game along with breakout performer and betting favorite for Rookie of the Year, Sergey Volkov who announced his presence with a 25-point game.

Team Ali who is already battling injuries were led by superstar substitute, Mike Renner who dropped a massive seven three-pointers along with Anthony Nayab who had 15 points and 5 dimes. Chris Gardenier elevated his draft stock with a huge 15-point game. James Renner also had a productive game, dropping 3 dimes and the veteran did find it from long distance as well with two three-pointers. Despite their efforts, Team Ali couldn’t hold off Team Garrett, 75-68.

7:15 PM – Team NewA2 aka FoCho holds off Team AB, 66-62

In the 7:15 game, Team NewA2 defeated Team AB in a hard-fought victory by the score of 66-to-62. Team NewA2 was coasting to victory early in the first half and were leading by 14 when the handsome Trevor Roe-Satkowski decided to take a break from the action. Team AB came roaring back while he rested and proceeded to keep it close through the closing minutes despite his return. Team NewA2 was led by phenomenal performances from their MVP candidates; Alex Cho & Avi Fogel who had 22 and 26 points. “Fogel always seems to give it his best while facing AB, man,” said Bay Club Basketball Hall of Famer, Rodrigo Moreira. Fogel was no doubt fired up in this one, taking on defenders throughout the game with his hard penetration in the paint. Ben Stoodley returned to action and had his team firing on all cylinders with a smooth & seemingly effortless 9 points and lockdown defense and countless assists. “That team goes as Ben goes,” added Moreira.

Team AB brought the intensity led by star point guard, Abdullah Ahamed who produced 29 points with a massive five three-point field goals and five assists. (A cinco-cinco) Sergey Volkov chipped in as a substitute with 17 points while Elliott Adler paved the way on the glass getting rebound after rebound. Nate Martinez was a nuisance defensively and set a league-record 42 screens. Despite their efforts Team AB fell short in the end 66-to-62.

8:15 PM – Team Lance gets revenge over Team Reilly, 90-50

In the 8:15 PM matchup, we had a finals rematch between Team Lance and Team Reilly. Team Lance who are on record by Bay Club Media, as a team that’s on an all-out hunt to return as champions, did not hold back in their rematch defeating Team Reilly by a brutal 40 points by a final score of 90-to-50. League MVP candidate, Lance Moore was challenged early by the Bay Club’s peskiest player, Bradley Mitchell who provided some early tough defense on the superstar. However, Mitchell’s efforts seemingly backfired for Team Reilly as it only motivated Moore to take his game to another level, dropping a week-high 32 points including 7 three-pointers. Fans overheard Moore after the game saying, “Don’t piss off the Bull,” per sources close to Bay Club Media. Moore’s supporting cast proved to be more than efficient -- as projected by the BCM experts -- with Miguel Vargas chipping in 30-points of his own along with 6 three-point makes and elite defense. Moe Hamadi, was the glue for the team and provided a smooth 12 points and kept his team level headed with his upper-tier leadership skills. It appears to be coming together nicely for Team Lance.

Team Reilly was led by Daniel “Danny” Reilly who dropped a team-high 21 points with a dazzling display of post moves and sky hooks. Danny also produced an elite defensive performance but, in the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome a pissed-off Moore. Arley Gonzales, the most underrated player in the league, contributed 17 points and tough defense but despite their efforts Team Reilly could not overcome the adversity of playing without their first-round pick, Sasha Gustin and second round pick, Phil Roffi now being lost for the season.

9/10/2024Week 2 Preview - Jay's Week 2 Write Up

Andy K & Navy Marc vs Jordan & Nick @ 5:15pm

Despite no longer having the talent level to be captains, Andy and Marc thankfully rode to last week's first game victory on the backs of Dave and Bo. As the preseason pick for 2nd to last place, that will probably be their last win for a while. Newby captain Jordan Mole and guy we have to be nice to because he runs the club Nick Diciaula won as well last week and look to roll over this week's tiresome opponent. Jordan/Nick minus 12.5

Ali & Tony vs Garret & CJ @ 6:15

Two teams that didn't get a win last week but were high on the preseason projections. Despite league low-point scorer James Renner pouring in 2 points last week, Tony probably can't do it without preseason always-injured softy Ali, and Garrett apparently is going to rely on Sergei's superior basketball IQ, if he can get him to show up. Absent Ali will go down this week to Garrett's merry band of solid misfits. Garrett/CJ minus 16.5

AB & James vs Alex & Avi @ 7:15

Both undefeated and riding the high of league leading scorer MIT Alex, the only player in the league that reads books on quantum physics during timeouts. Team AB will hopefully have reason to celebrate this week as their next assist will be their first of the season. Tough to project victories for this team that never met a shot it didn't take, when their star of last week's game was lowly Elliot with 17 rebounds and the crunch time steal and assist. Trevor (best player in the league) demands that I refrain from criticizing his team and all he allows me to say is that Avi will win. Avi/Alex minus 9.5

Lance & Daddy vs Danny & Arley @ 8:15

Lance succeeded in his annual off-season quest to upgrade his team after first dumping ball and chain Matt Dart years ago. However, after losing in week one to Nate Lark's sensitive elbow, Lance is desperate to get back to the win column. League elders after week one have Lance going 2-8 this season if he is unable to convince Miguel to get out of the upstairs squat rack and come down and play basketball. Miguel is convinced he can be the first ever to squat 400lbs and bench 305 at the same time. Sad sack team Danny/Arley apparently can't process basketball without Danny's better-at-basketball brother and were overwhelmed last Tuesday by an underwhelming newby. Despite Arley Gonzalez and I being 38th cousins dating back to 1689 mother Spain, Danny\Arley go down again, even worse. Lance/Lance's Daddy minus 19.5

9/3/2024Bay Club Basketball Fall '24 - Week 1 Preview

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 3rd, 2024

CARMEL VALLEY, San Diego, Sept 3rd, 2024 – Tonight kicks off Week 1 for the prestigious TUESDAY NIGHT Bay Club Basketball ’24 Fall season. Many are clamoring over tonight’s matchups, and you can feel the excitement in the air as fans everywhere are excited to find out which teams will come out firing in their chase for the beloved Bay Club Basketball Championship Trophy.

At 5:15 PM PST we have TEAM REILLY vs TEAM MOLE. – This will be a sure battle through the closing minutes between two heavyweights and perennial title contenders. Team Reilly is led by COREs, Danny Reilly and Arley Gonzales who are ready to announce their presence with authority as returning champions. Are they the next BCBB dynasty? Stay tuned!

Team Mole is led by Nick Diciaula & Jordan Mole as teammates from season's past have decided to core up. Diciaula is a sharpshooter from the distance and contender to lead the league in scoring each season. Mole is all-around player with a high-basketball IQ that can do it all; hit 3s, jumpers, box out, rebound and pass. Team Mole is a dark horse favorite title contender.

VEGAS ODDS: TEAM MOLE +50 – TEAM REILLY -50

At 6:15 PM PST we have TEAM ALI VS TEAM MAKe. – Team Ali is led by shooting specialist, Ali Nayab and newcomer Tony Johnson. Nayab is a dynamic player that continuously defies the odds draining circus-shot 3s finding windows through double coverage and against the league’s toughest defenders. Johnson is a wildcard, but sources have leaked that he’s quite a player and if he plays as advertised, Team Ali will be a force to be reckoned with in the Fall ’24 playoffs.

Team MAKe is led by Marc Mueseler & Andy Kirkpatrick. Mueseler is all around player with elite passing and driving skills while Kirkpatrick is a knock-down shooter from anywhere on the court. Kirkpatrick will also at times show case an elite 3-point floater, which teams will have to prepare for. This team consistently places amongst the league’s best and can be carried by either one of their cores on any given Tuesday.

VEGAS ODDS: TEAM MAKe -50 – TEAM ALI +50

At 7:15 PM PST we have TEAM LANCE vs TEAM AB. – This will surely be an exciting matchup between some of the most talented and competitive COREs in the nation. Team LANCE led by Lance Moore & Miguel Vargas are Bay Club Basketball’s latest dynasty coming off multi-consecutive championship titles (so many that we lost count) until they were finally upset this last season. Was this just a fluke because Team Lance’s team had unexpected injuries or is it the end of an era of dominance for Team Lance? We will find out shortly and I wouldn’t bet against this team as many are saying Moore went Michael Jordan “I took that personally mode” in the offseason absolutely reloading his team via the draft and running two-a-days all offseason. Despite not returning as champions, they are favorites for the beloved Bay Club title.

TEAM AB is led by all-around athlete and highly competitive, Abdullah Ahamed along with running mate, James Bakhit. Ahamed is scoring specialist with a high-motor and will sink some of the league’s toughest shots. Bakhit can also do it all and is a contender to lead the league in scoring and the core being able to coexist is the team’s only question mark. TEAM AB had an excellent draft and are primed to make some noise in Fall ’24.

VEGAS ODDS: TEAM LANCE -100 – TEAM AB +100

At 8:15 PM PST we have TEAM NEW A2 vs TEAM GARRETT. – Team NewA2 is led by the dynamic duo of Avi Fogle and Alex Cho. Fogle and Cho have similar games and can light it up from anywhere on the court. This team is led by their sharp shooters, defense and excellent scouting & draft department who seem to find diamonds in the rough each season.

Team Garrett is led by Garrett Pagon and Sagi “CJ” Shpigelman. Sphigelman is an electric player with limitless range, great passing skills and is one of the best defenders in the league. Pagon can do it all and is a potential league MVP. Pagon makes every player around him better by setting them up with precision passes that lead to scoring opportunities. Pagon can drive, rebound, pass, shoot 3s.. But can he beat LANCE in the championship in FALL ’24? We WILL SEE. ###
