9/10/20172017 IBL/MSBL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

**2017 INDIANA BASEBALL LEAGUE – MSBL – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME**

SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER 10, 2017 @ GRAND PARK D2 – WESTFIELD (IN)

HC Phillies battle the Indianapolis Giants in the 2017 IBL MSBL Championship Game, a rematch of the 2016 Championship.  The 13th meeting between the two teams.

This season the Phillies and the Giants have battled in two marathon extra-inning games with each team picking up a victory to split their last two games of the 2017 season.  IBL veteran Jeff Johnson gets the start for the Giants facing off once again versus fellow IBL veteran Eric Teall for the Philies.

Matt Alspaugh leads the Championship Game off with a 1B to set the tone for the Phillies early.  Scott Kessler comes through with an RBI 2B as Alspaugh scores from 1B.  The Phillies strike first up 1-0.  Jeremy Martin continues the rally with a Sac-Fly RBI to LF scoring Kessler to make it 2-0 Phillies in the 1st.  The Phillies were not done yet as Chandler Farrow rips a 1B to the right side and an error by the Giants allows Matt Pulley and Eric Teall to both score making it 4-0.  Eric Teall starts out in dominating fashion on the mound sitting the Giants down in order with 2 big K’s in the 1st

In the 2nd inning Scott Kessler comes through again with a Sac-Fly RBI to LF scoring Matt Zmich to make it a 5-0 Phillies lead.  Teall would strike out the side in the bottom of the 2nd.  Jeremy Martin would 1B and Eric Teall rips a 2B to lead off the 3rd.  Clayton Jones comes up huge ripping a base hit to CF that would score both Martin and Teall to increase the lead to 7-0.  The Phillies were not done as Chandler Farrow brings home Jones with an RBI 1B to make it 8-0 Phillies.  Teall would strike out a 5thand 6th consecutive batters in a row and remained perfect through 3.

The game would turn into a pitcher’s duel between Teall and Giants relief pitcher Jay Broughton starting in the 4th inning.  The Giants would add their first hit and base runner in the 4th who would score on a throwing error later in the inning.  The Phillies would get that run right back in the 6th as Chandler Farrow scores on a throwing error from a Sac-Bunt by Matt Alspaugh.  As the duel continued on the mound Eric Teall would strike out 4 batters in the 8th inning.

On to the 9th inning as the Giants get their lead-off man aboard.  The next batter would ground out to short and then Chandler Farrow would nail the runner at 2B trying to advance as Matt Pulley applies the tag.  The Phillies were one out away from their 1st Championship.  Teall would fire two strikes to make the count 0-2 against Taylor Gibson.  Teall paints the corner for a called strike 3 and PHILLIES WIN IT, THE PHILLIES WIN IT, OH MY GOD THE PHILLIES WIN IT!

8/6/2017Indy Monarchs Website Post - Classic!

The Monarchs got absolutely masterblasted by the Phillies on Sunday at Grand Park. Thank God the Little League Regionals were on a diamond on the other side of the campus so that ESPN8 (The Ocho) didn't accidentally capture footage of the dumpster-fire (pictured left) we were. We stunk so bad that I would have blamed it on the portalet if it wasn't a half mile away.
