HC Phillies sign OF/DH Frank Cole for the 2015 Indiana Baseball League season! Frank played college baseball at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND! Frank will look to play OF/DH and will step in as an Assistant Coach for the Phillies in 2015!
HC Phillies resign 2014 IBL All-Star selection & 2014 IBL Cy Young Award Winner Eric Teall for the 2015 Indiana Baseball League season. Eric batted .456 w/ 8 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, & 31 RBI at the plate in 2014. Eric would post a 6-2 record w/ 59 1/3 IP, 91 K's, and an ERA of 2.12 on the mound in 2014. Eric will look to spend time on the mound while playing OF & 1B for the Phillies in 2015!

HC Phillies Defeat Pirates 2-0 Behind Teall's CG Shutout at New Pal H.S.!!
August 17, 2014: H.C. Phillies end Pirates 12 game win streak with victory in battle of aces as H.C. Phillies SP Eric Teall outduels Pirates SP Dustin Brown with a CG shutout as Brown also throws a CG in the 2-0 loss.
Eric Teall and Dustin Brown dueled into the 6th inning each throwing shutouts through 5 innings. Both the HCP and the Pirates defenses came to play behind their pitchers today. Kory Vanderford would reach on 1-out E5 and Matt Longfellow would move Vanderford to 2B and reach 1B on a bunt 1B. Jim Goodwin laid down another bunt and an E2 throwing error sailed past the Pirates 1B and Vanderford scored from 2B while Longfellow attempted to score and was called out at the plate on a very questionable call by the homeplate umpire. Jim Goodwin would then score on a WP by Dustin Brown to put HCP up 2-0. Teall pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 6th as HCP lead 2-0 after 6.
Brown and Teall would continue their duel as Teall as Brown would sit down the next 9 HCP batters he faced in the 7th, 8th , and 9th innings. Teall was able to pitch out of having runners on the corners in the 7th inning and Teall and the HCP defense closed the door in the 8th after the first 2 runners go aboard for the Pirates. In the 9th Ben Stenger made a stellar catch at SS and the Teall would get the next batter to fly out to Matt Longfellow at 3B before the final batter flew out to catch Kory Vanderford at home plate. Teall wins the duel of aces over Brown as the Phillies defeat the Pirates 2-0 at New Pal H.S.!!
Eric Teall w/ the CG Shutout while striking out 12 batters for the victory. HCP defense turned 3 double play's and played solid defense behind Teall. Kyle Hutton, Matt Simanski, and Matt Longfellow each had 1 hit for the Phillies. Kory Vanderford and Jim Goodwin scored the only 2 R's for HCP. Kory Vanderford goes the distance behind the plate catching a great game for HCP. With the 2-0 victory over the Pirates the H.C. Phillies improve to 11-4 on the season and will return to action in their regular season finale next Sunday, August 24th in a rematch with the also (11-4) Giants at Warren Central H.S. at 3:30pm!!
After back to back questionable calls from the umpire crew in game 1 the HC Phillies answered back defeating the Giants in game 2 of their doubleheader this afternoon at Chatard HS. After the Giants tied the game up at 3 late scoring two runs vs starter Zach Taylor to force extra innings the Phillies answered with 2 big runs in the top of the 8th inning. Ben Stenger made his HCP pitching debut shutting down the Giants in the bottom of the 8th ending the game with a ground ball to 3B Matt Longfellow sealing the biggest victory in HCP history thus far!!
