2/23/2021Getting back on the field...!

After reviewing the state guidelines for Outdoor and Indoor Youth and Recreational Adult Sports re-opening procedures, I believe there is some potential to start playing again if we're willing to do the work of planning a well supervised and altered format to ensure public health safety procedures are adhered to.

3/23/20202020 Season Postponed

2/27/20202020 Jamboree Info

The purpose of this event (Jamboree / March 14th) is to register teams that will be playing in our 2020 Spring Season. Hopefully, Saturday (March 21), will be week one of the season. We need all players to sign waivers and identify a team captain by the end of the day at the Jamboree. Those captains will be responsible for turning in a team registration packet before their team’s first game of the regular season. These packets will be available in the field office at the Jamboree.  We will be determining the schedule after this event is completed and will notify team captains individually, and by posting it on our website and Facebook group by Wednesday, March 11th.  By the way, we'll be playing on Haverty Field this year.

During the Jamboree, which will start at 11:00am, we’ll try to give all teams (probably not likely if people don’t respect the schedule) the opportunity to play each other using the following format:

Offenses will play a period of 10 continuous minutes trying to score as many points as possible using regular season rules with one exception. Only one timeout per team allowed per period. At the end of that period there will be a 5-minute break. The two teams will then switch offensive and defensive roles and play another 10 minutes using the same rules.

2/3/20202020 Spring Season

2020 Spring Season

We were waiting till this month to start the process. First up is the annual fundraiser that we do at DJ's Pizza. That's scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th. We'll create an event here on Facebook once that is confirmed.

Next on the agenda would be to schedule a date and place for the Jamboree. We'd like to try to play at Haverty Field for the season, which we traditionally try to start 2 weeks after the Jamboree so that we have time to conduct a “Captains Meeting” to discuss any issues that you all feel should be addressed before the season starts.

Speaking to that point, Team Captains should notify me ASAP of your intent to play this year. You can do that here or by phone. If you need my number, PM (Facebook)me for it.  Be aware that the first five teams that validate their existence will have priority to be assigned one of those slots. First step of validation is pre-registering with me. Second will be showing up for the Jamboree.

Given that the purpose of the fundraiser is to help defer operating costs for the season, thereby lowering the amount due for team fees, everyone’s participation in that event will benefit the entire league. We will also have team registration packets available at the fundraiser. Good way to pre-register…

Otherwise, as members of our communities, we can get together to play at Haverty Field for an afternoon of football “unofficially” anytime now…

4/14/2019Easter weekend games postponed

Week two of our games needs to be postponed as per the special event permit that we have with the city. Saturday, April 20th was already booked for an annual Easter Celebration when we applied. Week two has been scheduled for Saturday, April 27th.

With that in mind, the season will resume with week three scheduled for Saturday, May 11th because the park was booked for a circus on the weekend of May 4th and 5th.

3/10/2018Change of location for 2018 Spring Season games!

We will be playing our games in Austin Park this spring. The city has plans for redevelopment later this year and concerns about the wear and tear that our activity would place on Haverty Field have been brought to the City's attention. So, in the spirit of cooperation, we (City of Clearlake and GDFFL) decided that using Austin Park this season is an acceptable compromise. It is prudent, however, that we "read the writing on the wall" and begin making appropriate adjustments to our mission operation plans, regarding future activities, as soon as possible.

1/25/20182018 Spring Season

We will be having our Jamboree this year in Austin Park on Saturday, March 10th at 11:00am. Team registration packets will be available and teams will have the chance to size up this year's competition with our usual abbreviated game format. Please pass this info around any way you can!
