2025 Season End
It was an incredible season for the Indy Cubs! With many great battles fought, lost, and won. And many great friends made along the way!
The Cubs want to thank each and every player! For giving your all every single play! For all our supportive family and fans who have cheered us on all summer! And the Indiana Baseball League for giving us an incredible place to play the game we all love!

2025 Playoffs
Semifinals
Cubs vs Orioles
It was a beautiful day for the semi finals! The championship only 1 win away.
The Cubs came out with intensity and focus in the top of the first showing great patience and loading the bases with only 1 out, continued patience got 2 runs walked across.
In the top of the 2nd the Cubs exploded with great at bats and multiple hits leading to a 5 run inning! Putting the Cubbies up 7-0. Sean Ward singled, scoring one run, Kochanowski drew a walk, scoring one run, Devon Davis singled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, and Taylor Jones singled, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the 2nd the Orioles closed the gap by scoring 4 runs, and then in the bottom of the 3rd because of multiple fielding errors the Orioles scored 5 runs on six hits to take the lead, 9-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Austin Ridgway that drove in two.
After that both offenses simmered down, the Cubs only scoring 1 more, and the Orioles only scoring 1 run here and there.
Unfortunately at the end of the 9 inning 3 1/2 hour battle the Cubs fell short. The Orioles won 15-8.
The Cubs ace arms being off at college hurt, yet the Orioles still rallied back from a 7-0 deficit!
Caleb Coons earned the win for Indy Orioles. The hurler allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five and walking three.
Matt Ellis pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for Indy Cubs. The reliever gave up six hits and six runs (three earned) while, striking out one and walking two.
Congratulations to the Orioles on advancing to yet another Championship!

Round 1
Cubs vs Diamondbacks
It was a beautiful day for postseason Baseball at Grand Park on Sunday!
The Cubs looking to advance past the Diamondbacks to the semifinals!
The Cubs trusty hurler Nick Heffernan started on the bump.
After a quick 1st inning things were feeling confident.
The Diamondbacks struck first in the top of the 2nd inning when an inside the park home run gave them the lead 2-0.
In the bottom of the 2nd the Cubs got 2 runners on, an expert bunt by Davis moved them over, and a ground ball from David K drove in a run, making the score 2-1 Dbacks.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning the Cubs were looking to score some more, a hit by Noah K led off the inning, which started a huge 12 run streak! Which included: a crushed triple from Andy Manzur, scoring two runs. A smoked triple by Devon Davis, scoring three runs. Then David Kochanowski singled, scoring one run. Nate Norris drew a walk, scoring one run. Manzur was up again and drew a walk, scoring one run. The Cubs starter Nick Heffernan helped himself out with a double, scoring two runs. Dustin Sprong singled, scoring one run. A passed ball scored another run.
After the huge inning, Big Heff went back to work, and continued to battle down the Diamondbacks offense. Never letting them score more than 2 in an inning.
The Cubs closer Andy Manzur stepped on the mound in the 9th, and closed out the game with 3 strikeouts! Advancing the Cubs to the semifinals!
Heffernan earned the win for the Cubs. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking three.
Shout out to the Dbacks on a good game.
With a great win the Cubs are going to their first semifinal appearance on September 7th!

2025 Game 15
Cubs vs Marlins
Levi Rasberry drove in five runs on four hits to lead the Indy Cubs past the Marlins 13-3 on Sunday at Grand Park. Rasberry hit a single in the first scoring one, blasted a home run in the 4th scoring two, singled in the sixth scoring one, and singled in the seventh scoring one. All together a huge day for the slugger!
The Marlins started out hot and got on the board in the top of the first inning after a single scored two runs, and a double scored one run putting if the fish 3-0
The Cubs answered back tying the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Rasberry, a hit by a pitch, and a fielder's choice by Dillon.
In the bottom of the second, the bears in blue broke up the tie when Maxwell Schumaker singled, scoring two runs. Then a walk by Sean Ward followed to extend the lead to 6-3.
Levi Rasberry homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Cubs.
The slugger also earned the win on the mound for the Cubs. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking one. Dustin Sprong and Schumaker each threw shutout innings for Indy Cubs in relief.
The Cubs piled up 11 hits in the game. Nate Norris paced the Cubs with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Sprong stole two bases.

2025 Game 14
Cubs vs Arrows
Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but the Cubs came out on top 2-1. Maxwell Schumaker started the game for Indy Cubs and recorded 27 outs.
The big hurler struck out 16 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also gave up five hits and one run (0 earned) over nine innings while walking three.
The Arrows opened the scoring in the first after a single scored one run.
In the 3rd inning Andy Manzur worked a walk to get on first. Then with 2 outs, the Cubs catcher Sean Ward battled through an at bat and knocked a single! paired with aggressive base running from Manzur helped the Cubs tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
Later in the 6th David K got on base, and advanced to 3rd on an errand throw to 2nd base. With 2 outs and 2 strikes, the Cubbies leadoff batter Nate Norris shot a line drive to right field scoring David and giving the Cubs the lead in the bottom of the sixth.
In the 9th, the Cubs were 1 out away from victory. The Arrows had a runner on 2nd, the guy at the plate hit a single to center field, they sent the runner home, but the Cubs center fielder grabbed the ball and launched a missile! Getting the guy out at home and winning the game in dramatic fashion!
Noah Kochanowski and Dustin Sprong each collected two hits for Indy Cubs. Ward and Norris each drove in one run for the bears in blue!

2025 Game 13
Cubs vs Orioles
Indy Cubs Fall Short To the Orioles Despite Strong Performance From Maxwell Schumaker
Even though Maxwell Schumaker struck out 13 batters, the Cubs still fell to the Dirty Birds.
Schumaker allowed three hits and two runs (1 earned) over seven innings while walking four.
The O’s opened the scoring in the first after Blake Baumgartner grounded out, scoring one run.
A single by Wade Teltoe extended the Indy Orioles lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
The Cubs brought in Nick Heffernan in the 8th. The Orioles scored five runs on one hit in the 8th. Michael Sentman drew a walk, scoring one run, Teltoe doubled, scoring two runs, Baumgartner hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Brendan Basey grounded out, scoring one.
The Cubs had a bad day at the plate.
The Cubs look to bounce back next week vs the league leading Arrows!

2025 Game 12
Cubs vs Mustangs
An outstanding pitching performance from Levi Rasberry and a line up full of bats on fire led the Cubs to victory Sunday night!
The mustangs got on the board early in the bottom of the 1st with a triple from their lead off hitter and a sac fly that scored the run.
The Cubs had a big 3rd inning however. It got started with a base hit from Joey Vershay, a ground ball, a passed ball, and a sacrifice fly by David Kochanowski, and the Cubs had tied the game. Then the Cubs took the lead with a 2 out rally! Skyler Dillon started the rally with outstanding hustle beating out a ground ball. 2 walks later and the bases were loaded. Rasberry came to the plate and demolished a ball to right center with a bases clearing double! Taking the lead 4-1.
The Stangs crept their way back into the game, and then the Cubs had another big inning in the 6th scoring 3 runs getting them out to a 4-run lead. The Mustangs closed the gap by scoring on a triple, a single, and a sacrifice fly, but the Cubs Big-Hef stepped in to close out the game collecting the save!
Joey Vershay led the Cubbies in hits collecting three in three at bats in the win!

2025 Game 11
Cubs vs Indians
An outstanding pitching performance from Big-Hef came up just short on Sunday.
Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but Indians was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-2 victory over Indy Cubs. Nick Heffernan started the game for Indy Cubs and recorded 21 outs only allowing 4 hits and 3 runs.
Indians got on the board in the top of the first inning after they scored on a sacrifice-fly and grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
The Cubs answered right away scoring 1 run in the bottom of the first with a line shot RBI single from Rasberry.
The Indians added one run in the second with a RBI ground out, making the score 3-1.
The game was a pitcher duel from there on with both hurlers putting up scoreless inning after scoreless inning.
The Cubs made a comeback run in the bottom of the 7th. Everyone battling great at bats to get on base, the Cubs pitcher helped himself out by scoring a run making the game 3-2. The cubs loaded the bases with 2 outs. One run tied the game, 2 runs wins it. After a battle of an at bat, Noah Kochanowski struck out, ending the game.

2025 Game 10
Cubs vs Rose City Architects
A Powerful Pitching Performance From Maxwell Schumaker Carries Indy Cubs Past Rose city architects
Maxwell Schumaker struck out 14 batters as the hurler led Indy Cubs past Rose city architects 6-4 on Sunday! Schumaker gave up seven hits and two runs (one earned) over eight innings while only walking one.
The Indy Cubs got on the board early in the first inning after Dustin Sprong smacked a double, and Nick Heffernan lined a single, each scoring two runs.
Throughout the game the cubs tacked on a few more runs including a triple from Andy Manzur, and aggressive base running on a short fly ball to score from 3rd!
In the bottom of the 9th Rose City started to make a comeback! Threatening with bases loaded and the tying run on 2nd. Heffernan stepped into the tense situation, kept his cool, and produced a ground out to end the game!
The Cubs piled up nine hits in the game. Andy Manzur and Heffernan each collected two hits for the Cubbies.

2025 Game 9
Cubs vs Indians
Indians jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after #8 tripled, scoring one run, #10 singled, scoring one run, #24 singled, scoring one run, and #25 singled, scoring two runs.
Indians added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after #8 grounded into a fielder's choice, and Indy Cubs committed an error, each scoring one run.
Maxwell Schumaker pitched five and one-third innings in relief for Indy Cubs. The righty allowed six hits and four runs (zero earned) while, striking out 12 and walking none. David Flowers opened the game for Indy Cubs. The righty surrendered nine hits and seven runs (two earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none.
Schumaker led Indy Cubs with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.

Cubs vs Orioles
Indy Cubs could not keep up with Indy Orioles 5-1 on Sunday at Bishop Chatard High School.
A deep line out by Chris Spencer put Indy Orioles on the board in the top of the third.
The Orioles had a dominate pitching performance by Dan Brenneman who earned the win for the Indy Orioles. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Maxwell Schumaker started on the mound for Indy Cubs. The starter gave up four hits and five runs (two earned) over eight innings, striking out five and walking two.
The Cubs managed to get a run across late in the game but it was not enough to come back.

2025 Game 6
Cubs vs Rose City Architects
Maxwell Schumaker drove in five runs on two hits to lead Indy Cubs past Rose city architects 22-3 on Sunday at Cascade High School. Schumaker hit a grand slam in the first inning, scoring four runs.
Indy Cubs won thanks in part to 15 runs in the first inning. Derik Profit tripled, scoring two runs, Schumaker hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Matt Ellis drew a walk, scoring one run, Noah Howard drew a walk, scoring one run, Noah Kochanowski singled, scoring two runs, a passed ball scored one run, Schumaker hit a grand slam, David Kochanowski drew a walk, scoring one run.
Indy Cubs added one run in the second. Nick Heffernan singled following a 6-pitch at-bat, making the score 16-0.
An error, and a ground out by Kochanowski helped Indy Cubs extend their early lead in the third.
Heffernan earned the win for Indy Cubs. The starter allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Levi Rasberry appeared in relief for Indy Cubs.
Indy Cubs amassed 14 hits in the game. Rasberry led Indy Cubs with three hits in three at bats.
2025 Game 5
Cubs vs Rose City Architects
Even though Indy Cubs collected 12 hits to Rose city architects's four, they still fell 9-5 on Sunday at Cascade High School. Aaron Betts led Indy Cubs with three hits.
Indy Cubs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Derik Profit doubled, scoring two runs, and Nick Heffernan singled, scoring one run.
Evan Batias doubled down the left field line, which helped Rose city architects tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.
After an epic 10 pitch at bat the Cubs trusty catcher Sean Ward cranked a double over the left fielders head and gave the Indy Cubs the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fifth.
In the top of the seventh, Rose city architects broke up the tie when Jayden Atkins singled, scoring one run. Then a double by Dean Bither followed to extend the lead to 9-5.
Maxwell Schumaker started on the hill for Indy Cubs. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Indy Cubs amassed 12 hits in the game. Profit and Ward were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Indy Cubs. Andy Manzur and Schumaker each collected multiple hits for Indy Cubs.

2025 Game 4
Cubs vs Marlins
Indy Cubs Take The Lead Late And Defeat Marlins
Indy Cubs were the first to get on the board in the third when Noah Kochanowski hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Marlins made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the third after a single scored one run, and an error scored two.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Cubs went back into the lead after Sean Ward hit a deep sacrifice fly, and Levi Rasberry rocketed a single up the middle, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Marlins got a runner on, and then their 3 hole hitter cranked a homer over the right field wall! Tying the game!
Andy Manzur took the mound in the bottom of the 9th. After 2 quick K’s a 10 pitch battle resulted in a walk. The next better struck out swinging, but it was a dropped 3rd, the Marlins batter sprinted down the line, the Cubs Catcher Sean picked up the ball, fired down to first where Nate Norris, had to reach across the bag, catching the ball just before getting bulldozed by the runner! As Norris picked himself up from the dirt he raised his glove showing the umpire he held onto the ball the whole time, resulting in an out and the end of the inning!
The game, now tied after 9, began extra innings!
In the top of the 10th Jared Thompson took matters into his own hands! Stealing 3rd, forcing an overthrow, and sprinting into to score and take the lead 6-5!
The Cubs closer back on the mound, battled through a questionable strike zone, the Marlins took advantage as a single to center field following a 10-pitch at-bat, helped the Marlins tie the game back at six in the bottom of the tenth.
In the top of the 11th Noah K started out in 2nd. Mike Bickett struck out, but hustled down to first on a dropped third strike! Good baserunning for Noah and Mike onto 2nd and 3rd. Nate Norris at the dish came through clutch with a double down the right field line! Scoring both runner and re claiming the lead for the Cubs 8-6.
In the bottom got the 11th, Dustin Sprong earned the save for the Cubs. After loading the bases, the hurler got a strikeout and pop out to end the game! The pitcher gave up zero hita and zero runs!
David Flowers stepped on the hill first for Indy Cubs. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out four.
Norris led Indy Cubs with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Norris, Devon Davis, and Rasberry each collected two hits for Indy Cubs. Ward paced Indy Cubs with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the bears in blue.

Cubs vs Arrows
The Cubs bats were alive! Scoring 12 runs!
The Arrows made a late game comeback, but the Cubs closer Andy Manzur shut them down to hold onto the win! Collecting the save!

2025 Game 2
Cubs vs Royals
Indy Cubs Claw Back, But Fall Just Short Against Royals.
The Royals got on the board in the first inning after a groundout RBI scored one run.
A single in the 2nd extended the Royals lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the inning.
In the 3rd the Royals extended their lead to 5-0 with a few keys hits.
Despite a 5-run deficit in the third inning, the Cubs came all the way back to tie the game in the 4th.
The Cubs were still down 5-0 when Dustin Sprong stepped to the plate with 2 runners in, the lefty absolutely smashed! a ball to the wall in left center, scoring both runners, then a single by Derik Profit scored Sprong, a walk, then Matias Manzur crushed a triple to left field to tie the game! Unfortunately he was thrown out trying to score so the Cubs did not take the lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Royals broke up the tie when a sacrifice fly scored 1, and then a steal of home followed to extend the lead to 7-5.
The Cubs battled the remaining innings but could not pull across any more runs, resulting in the loss.
The Cubs pitching struggled to consistently find the strike zone.
Profit, M Manzur, A Manzur, and Sprong each collected one hit for the bears in blue, M Manzur and Sprong each drove in two runs. The Cubs had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Manzur and Sprong led the team with two bases on balls each.

2025 Game 1
Cubs vs Mustangs
The Cubs take the W on opening day in a white knuckle flyer!
Matt Ellis opened on the bump for the Cubs, the veteran doing his job and only allowing 1 run in the top of the first.
In the bottom of the inning the Cubs answered with 2 runs when Hunter Smith was struck by a pitch, and David Kochanowski hit into a double play, each resulting in an RBI.
David Flowers took over on the mound in the 2nd as the Stangs took back the lead with a single and a walk. Flowers fought through 4 innings and kept the game within reach!
Scoring was silent for a long time until in the 7th inning when Manzur smashed a double to right center, then immediately capitalizes on a fielding error and advanced to 3rd, Smith then drove him in with a groundball RBI. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cubs continued scoring with 3 more runs, timely hits from Ellis and Boesch drove this rally!
Going into the top of the 9th, 3 outs away from victory Manzur took the mound to close things out. 2 quick strikeouts later the Cubs are looking at a win, when a walk, a stolen base, and a fielding error got a Stangs runner 90 feet away from tying the game! The closer collected himself, and delivered a 3 pitch strikeout to end the game!
Andy Manzur collected the save. Nick Heffernan pitched three innings of shutout ball for Indy Cubs in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
Smith provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Indy Cubs with two runs batted in. Dustin Sprong went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Indy Cubs in hits.

Game 1 summary
Cubs vs Orioles
Indianapolis Cubs took Sunday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 6-5 walk-off victory over Indy Orioles.
Indy Orioles opened the scoring in the first after Michael Sentman grounded out, scoring one run.

Indianapolis Cubs tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
Indianapolis Cubs took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Conner King doubled, scoring one run, to give Indianapolis Cubs the advantage, 2-1.
Indy Orioles tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to an error, and a single by Sentman.
A single by Darrell Gotz gave the Indianapolis
Cubs the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh.
Indy Orioles tied the game in the top of the ninth thanks to a triple by Aaron Wells, and a single by Nick Jones.
In the bottom of the 9th the Cubs starting catcher Sean Ward smacked a deep double to get on base. Owen Kipling then hit a ground ball into a fielders choice, Sean hustled to 3rd and was able to score the winning run on an overthrow to first base.
In his Cubs debut Gotz stepped on the bump as the opening day starter. He only gave up one hit and three runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking four. Preston Philips had an outstanding relief outing for the Cubs, holding the dangerous Orioles to only 2 more runs.
Gotz and Ward led the team with 2 hits each. Gotz and King each had an RBI while Gotz stole 2 bases.

Game 2 Summary
Cubs vs Expos
Bats were blistered as Indianapolis Cubs outsted Expos 14-11 on Sunday. The Indianapolis Cubs collected 16 hits.
A ground out put the Expos on the board in the bottom of the first and then a walk extended the Expos lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Cubs took the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth.
The Expos answered back and tied the game at three in the bottom of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fifth, Expos broke up the tie when an error scored one run. Then a walk followed to extend the lead to 5-3.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Cubs bats woke up and they tacked on 4 reclaiming the lead, and continued to stack on runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. The Expos gave a bit of a scare turning in 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th before RJ Pedderson closed out the game. Collecting the save in his farewell game!
Derik Profit started the game for
Indianapolis Cubs. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five and walking four. David Kochanowski, Philips, and Darrell Gotz each appeared in relief for the Indianapolis Cubs.
Indianapolis Cubs piled up 16 hits in the game. Gotz drove the middle of the lineup, leading Indianapolis Cubs with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-4 on the day.
Justin Fortener, had an explosive debut at the plate leading the team with three hits in four at-bats.
Philips, Conner King, and Davis each collected multiple hits for the Cubbies. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game.

Game 3 Summary
Cubs vs Marlins
In his first outing of the season Thomas Barbara picked up the W as he struck out 13 batters and only allowing 2 hits. The righty led Indianapolis Cubs past Florida Marlins 14-4 on Sunday.
Conner King walked in the first inning and ran his way around the bases to put a run on the board all by himself. The Indianapolis Cubs were diligent at the plate all day and then the bats caught fire as they scored eight runs in the eighth inning on the way to victory.
The Indianapolis Cubs collected nine hits in the game. Davis led the team with three hits in three at bats! Kipling and Gotz each drove in two runs for Indianapolis Cubs. The Cubs had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 11 walks for the game.

Game4 Summary
Cubs vs Royals
Indianapolis Cubs Fell short on Sunday.
After getting out of a jam in the first, thanks to an outstanding throw from Davis in center field with an equally outstanding relay by Kipling to catch the runner at home tagging from 3rd, the Cubs came out hard and scored first. After King took fastball to the knee, and stole second, Gotz came up to the plate and hit a bullet to left field to drive in King.
After that the Cubs couldn't get anything to land. Many runners on base throughout the game, but no more crossed the plate.
Royals captured the lead, 4-1, in the top of the second when Jz drew a walk, scoring one run, Dylan singled, scoring two runs, and Dawson singled, scoring one run.
The Royals had a strong day at the plate and amassed 4 more runs to make the final score 8-1.
Derik Profit opened the game for Indianapolis Cubs. The righty surrendered nine hits and six runs over six innings, striking out five and walking five.
David Kochanowski and Gotz each collected one hit for Indianapolis Cubs. Gotz went 1-for-3 at the plate as the cleanup hitter led the team with one run batted in.

Game 5 Summary
Cubs vs Mustangs
Bats were blistered on Sunday, but Indianapolis Cubs couldn't quite get the job done against Mustangs and lost 12-8. Mustangs collected nine hits, while Indianapolis Cubs had eight.
Mustangs rallied for the victory despite trailing 7-3 in the fourth.
Mustangs got on the board in the top of the first inning after J Ferguson walked, Sam Abrams was struck by a pitch, and D Ricks was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Indianapolis Cubs flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on three hits to take a 7-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Ethan Vanlannen that drove in two.
Mustangs flipped the game back in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 9-7 lead.
Darrell Gotz stepped on the bump first for Indianapolis Cubs. They gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) in the 1st and then was lights out after that! After his final Houdini act in the 6th, the ball was passed on to T. Barbara and D. Flowers for relief.
Conner Benson fresh off the couch playing his first game of the season batted seventh and led the Indianapolis Cubs, with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Preston Philips and Vanlannen each collected two hits for Indianapolis Cubs.

Game 6 summary
Cubs vs Orioles
The Orioles came out with bats hot and ready to hit Sunday tallying 15 hits on the day. The Cubs unfortunately did not keep up with that pace.
The Orioles got runners on early, Cubs defense was holding them back when Conner King took a ground ball with an extremely weird hop straight to the face. The third basement exited the game immediately. While a big scare! Report says he’s okay. Conner is temporarily on the IL but is recovering and will be back in the next week or two!
The Orioles continued to hit the ball all day, while the Cubs third base coach Noah K made some bad decisions costing the Cubs potential runs.
The Cubs defense played well and a highlight performance from David F who closed out the game keeping the O’s bats quiet.

Game 7 Summary
Cubs vs Mustangs
In their second matchup this season the Indy Cubs played a good ball game but ultimately lost to the Stangs.
Mustangs got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning after A Gegg singled, and Z Luka doubled, each scoring one run.
David Flowers had another outstanding performance on the mound for the Indianapolis Cubs! Facing a big offensive team the righty only gave up six hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, walking none.
The Cubs bats found a better groove this week tallying 7 hits with a couple bullet shots from Jack Schmidt, Derik Profit, and the Cubs lead off man Aaron Betts!
Despite hitting the ball well the Cubs were not able to get anyone across the plate due to a few base running errors and a few unfortunate line shots right back at the pitcher. Shout out to Mustangs pitcher Ellison who fought through 7 innings and held the Cubs to 0.
Hunter Smith went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Indianapolis Cubs in hits!
The Cubs are looking to get their record back to 500 next week.

Game 8 Summary
Cubs vs Marlins
Indianapolis Cubs Claim the Win In a Thrilling Showdown With the Marlins!
Indianapolis Cubs defeat the Marlins 8-7 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game.
The Cubs starting pitcher struggled to find the zone, so Preston Philips stepped in and saved the day, only allowing 3 earned runs over the next 5 innings.
The Marlins took an early lead, and the Cubs were down 2-0 when they flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 5-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a by Andy Manzur! In his Cubs debut, the stud crushed a triple that drove in three.
The Marlins fought back in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 7-5 lead.
The Cubs jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Conner King singled, scoring one run, and a passed ball and error scored 2 more.
David Flowers came in clutch for the save!
The Cubs amassed 11 hits in the game. Devon Davis and Darrell Gotz each collected two hits for Indianapolis Cubs. Manzur led the team with three runs batted in. Sean Ward had 2 walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. King stole an outstanding three bases on the day!

Game 9 Summary
Cubs vs Arrows
The Cubbies opened the scoring in the first after Hunter Smith singled, scoring one run.
They added one run in the third after Andy Manzur singled, making the score 2-0.
The Arrows tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a solo home run to left by Henry Clausell Giraud, and a single by Peyton Blinn.
Later, the Cubs took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Noah Kochanowski drew a walk, scoring one run, to give them the edge, 3-2.
Blinn walked, which helped the Arrows tie the game at three in the top of the eighth.
A walk by Manzur handed the lead back to the Cubs. It was now 4-3, in the bottom of the eighth.
In the top of the 9th, on the very first pitch, Ryan Blinn homered to left field, tying the game at 4 a piece.
The went into extra innings where the Cubs unfortunately committed some errors and could not hold on.
The Arrows ended up winning 6-4.
Darrell Gotz started on the mound for Indianapolis Cubs. The righty gave up six hits and three runs over eight innings, striking out three and walking four.
Derik Profit, Smith, and Conner King each collected two hits on the day. Kochanowski, Smith, and Manzur each drove in one run for the team. The dangerous Manzur was not pitched to and paced the Cubs with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game.

Game 10 & 11 Summary
Cubs vs Black Sox
In a double header on Sunday the Cubs couldn't keep up with the Black sox in game 1 and fell 11-0.
David Flowers began game 1 for the Cubs. The right-handed pitcher allowed 11 hits and seven runs (five earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two.
Hunter Smith led Indianapolis Cubs with two hits in three at bats.
The 2nd game was a real mail biter as the Cubs fell 4-3 to the Black Sox out-hitting them four to two. Hunter Smith led Indianapolis Cubs with two hits.
Preston Philips led Indianapolis Cubs with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day.

Game 12 Summary
Cubs vs Expos
This game was played between 2 separate days. Because on the original day right in the top of the 3rd it there was a massive downpour soaking everything! And postponing the game, it was completed 2 weeks later.
Andy Manzur had an all-star game driving in four runs on three hits to lead the Cubs past the Expos 20-6. Manzur doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fifth inning, scoring two more.
The Cubs jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Manzur doubled, scoring two runs, Hunter Smith doubled, scoring one run, Ethan Vanlannen singled, scoring one run, Zac Adams doubled, scoring one run, Sean Ward singled, scoring one run, and Noah Kochanowski singled, scoring yet another.
Then the Cubs scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Cubs scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Conner Benson drew a walk, scoring one run, Thomas Barbara drew a walk, scoring one run, and then the Cubs lead off batter Aaron Betts smacked a triple, scoring four runs, and Brendon Gibson doubled, scoring one run.
David Flowers earned the win. The righty surrendered eight hits and six runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking three. Lucas Adams pitched one inning of no-run ball for the Cubs in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking one.
Indianapolis Cubs piled up 22 hits in the game. Ward, Betts, and Manzur each collected three hits for Indianapolis Cubs. Devon Davis, Vanlannen, and Gibson each collected multiple hits for Indianapolis Cubs. David Kochanowski paced Indianapolis Cubs with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.

Game 13 Summary
Cubs vs Blue Jays
It was a rough day for the Cubs. The Blue Jays hit the ball well all day and the Cubs fought hard, but could not answer.
David Flowers started the game for the Cubbies. The hurler surrendered eight hits and seven runs (five earned) over four and two-thirds innings.
Philips, Flowers, Devon Davis, and Andy Manzur each collected hits for the Cubs.
The Cubs now turn the page and will travel to the Indians for their next game.

Game 14 Summary
Cubs vs Indians
Even though the Indianapolis Cubs collected eight hits to the Indians's seven, they still fell 3-2 on Sunday.
Both teams were strong on the bump. Indians pitchers struck out six, while the Cubs sat down four.
A sac fly by Devon Davis put the Cubs on the board in the top of the first! Getting ahead early.
Then the Indians took the lead in the bottom of the second. Brady Anderson singled, scoring two runs, to give Indians the leg up, 2-1.
Indians added one run in the third. Sam Vogbie singled, making the score 3-1.
Another outstanding game by Thomas Barbara who began the game on the bump for the Cubs. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and only 1 earned run over seven innings! striking out four.
The Cubs made a run in the top of the 9th! Preston Philips got on base, then David Kochanowski came in clutch! With a line shot single scoring Philips from second. Sadly the Cubs could not come all the way back and the game ended 3-2.

Game 15 Summary
Cubs vs Firebirds
The Indianapolis Cubs had trouble keeping up with the Firebirds in a 15-3 loss on Sunday.
The Cubs started out well when single by Andy Manzur on the eighth pitch of the at-bat put the bears in blue on the board in the top of the first.
A single by Dante Granger gave Firebirds the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second.
Firebirds scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Michael Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Nick Heffernan singled, scoring two runs.
Matt Ellis opened for the Cubs on the mound. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and five two earned runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three in a row to end the 2nd.
Justin Fortener and Manzur each collected two hits. Fortener, Ellis, and Manzur each drove in one run on the day.
Ultimately uncharacteristic errors and leaving 8 runners stranded developed a loss for the Cubs.

The Cubs end the season 5-10.

Playoffs round 1
Cubs vs Indians
An exciting nail-biter took place at Grand park on Sunday for round 1 of the playoffs!
With a late change in starting pitching, David Flowers stepped up to the challenge! The Hurler tossed 6 innings allowing zero earned runs! (One run scored on an error in the 1st) Flowers battled all day! Showing up big time and time again!
Preston Philips had an outstanding defensive performance at SS supporting Flowers with 12 putouts, getting almost half of the Cubs outs in the game. The entire Cubs defense played spectacularly!
The Cubs were still without a run when Andy Manzur blasted a line drive into right center, and sped all the way around the bases for an inside the park home run! Tying the game 1-1 in the top of the 6th.
Manzur took over in relief on the mound, shutting down the Indians except 1 run in the bottom of the 8th that gave the Indians back the lead.
In the top of the 9th, only 3 outs away from their season being done. The Cubs worked a comeback! With great discipline at the plate, a HBP, 2 walks, and another HBP tied the game at 2 a piece. Then a Hunter Smith battled through a at bat where a passed ball allowed the Cubs to take the lead 3-2.
In the bottom of the 9th, Manzur got the first out, and Matt Ellis came in relief. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ellis got the save with a pop out, and a strike out to end the game.
The Cubs are going to the quarterfinals!

Playoffs Quarterfinals
Cubs vs Orioles
The Cubs rode the energy from their round 1 win and with a line shot single by Hunter Smith scored 2 in the top of the 1st inning! Surprising the number 1 seed Orioles.
Gotz stepped on the mound first for the Cubs, and pitched 3 solid innings, keeping the Orioles close.
The dirty birds got 3 in the bottom of the 1st taking the lead 3-2
The Cubs scored 1 run in the top of the 3rd with some great small ball, moving King around and Gotz hitting him in.
When it got to the top of the 7th the Orioles led 7-3, but the Cubs started a comeback! Getting runners on and scoring 2 in the 7th bringing the score to 7-5
The Orioles tacked in 2 more in the bottom of the 7th but the Cubs were undeterred, getting the first 3 on base in the top of the 8th. Unfortunately they were only able to get one across the plate.
At the top of the 9th, once again 3 outs away from the end of the season, the Cubs got 2 runners on base with only 1 out, Smith had an outstanding 12 pitch at bat that unfortunately ended in a strikeout. The Cubs kept fighting but could not make up the deficit.
Gotz had a fantastic game collecting four hits in five at bats. The Cubs accumulated 14 hits in the game. Smith and Gotz were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Cubs. Philips and Manzur each collected multiple hits in the game.
Congratulations to the Orioles on the win and advancement to the semi-finals.
