The Orioles totaled nine hits. Sentman and Garrett Walter each managed multiple hits for the Orioles. Walter and Sentman each managed two hits to lead the Orioles.

Game 2 vs Indians - 5/1

Orioles run-rule the Indians 12-0 in 7 innings! This was a dominant win by the Orioles as we scored in every inning except two and held the Indians to 4 hits. We scored twice in the first inning and never looked back. All in all a much better performance than last week. We look to make it 3-0 on the season as we play the expansion Sizzlers on May 15th. First pitch is 3:30pm at Brunette Park.

Notables:

  • Tanner Simpson got his 2nd start of the season and was sharp. Going 4 innings with 9Ks and only allowing 3 hits. The win, however, goes to Nick Weybright making his Orioles pitching debut. He allowed a hit, a walk, and struck a batter out in 2 innings of relief work.
  • Offensive we were led once again by Garrett Walter who went 3-4 with 3R and a RBI. Michael Sentman and Blake Baumgartner added two hits each, while Brandon Smalling (Orioles debut), Cameron Vanderberg, Nic Vanderberg, Aaron Wells, and Eli Grimes each added a hit.

Game 1 vs Cubs - 4/24

The Orioles win on Opening Day against the Cubs 8-6! The Orioles jumped out early scoring four runs in the 1st and two in the second to make it 6-0, but the Orioles would muster only 2 more runs the rest of the game (had the bases loaded with no outs twice and couldn't capitalize). Luckily that was just enough offense though to secure the win. Tanner Simpson (making his Orioles debut) got the start on the mound and was solid for 3 innings, striking out five. The Cubs made it close towards the end as Orioles pitching issued 9 walks in two innings, but in the end pitched well enough to get the job done.

9/28/20212021 Game Summaries

Playoffs Championship vs Hurricanes - 8/29

Orioles lose to the Hurricanes 10-6 in the championship game. Congrats to the Hurricanes on their 5th championship. We dug ourselves in a hole early as the Hurricanes scored 3 in the 1st and 5 in the 2nd to make it 8-0 heading into the bottom of the 2nd. An hour and a half rain delay in the bottom of the 5th helped us as we scored a run in the 5th-7th innings and 3 in the 8th to make it 8-6 going into the 9th. The Hurricanes tacked on 2 insurance runs to make it 10-6 and the Orioles had no answer in the bottom half of the inning.

Despite the disappointing outcome we had the best record in the league this year at 15-4 and our 2nd consecutive championship game appearance. All in all a great year! We will see you all in 2022! Go #DirtyBirdz!

Playoffs Semi-Finals vs Indians - 8/22

Orioles advance to their second consecutive championship game with a 12-4 win over the Indians. The Orioles scored 2 in the 1st and 3 in the 4th to make it 5-0 going into the top of the 5th. However the Indians had some fight in them, scoring a run in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to make it 5-4. That is when the Orioles put the game out of reach. Scoring one in the bottom of the 6th and 6 in the bottom of the 7th, 4 of those runs came off of a Cameron Vanderberg Grand Slam. Garrett Walter (4 for 4, 3 2Bs and 4 RBIs) and Cameron Vanderberg (3 for 4, 2B, HR, and 6 RBIs) carried our offense.

The Orioles will try to capture their first championship in 8 seasons when they take on the 4x Champion Hurricanes. First pitch is at 1PM at University of Indianapolis.

Playoffs Round 1 vs Rays - 8/15

Orioles dominate the Rays 12-0 and move onto the Semi-Finals for the 2nd consecutive year. Seth Hoffman got the start and went 5 strong innings allowing 4 hits and striking out 4. On offense, we scored 7 runs in the 2nd off of 5 consecutive Rays errors. We added 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th, and then 2 in the 7th to hit the run rule. Tyler Krempasky, Garrett Walter, and Blake Baumgartner let the way with 2 hits each. We will take on the Indians next Sunday at UIndy. Go DirtyBirdz!

Games 15 & 16 vs Black Sox - 8/8

Orioles win a pitchers duel against the Black Sox 2-0 in Game 1. It was 0-0 for most of the game until the bottom of the 6th where Garrett Walter stepped up and hit a 2R HR (his 3rd of the year). That was all of the offense Starter Jared Berger needed as he pitched the first shutout of the season for the Orioles only allowing 2 hits and striking out 9. With this win, the Orioles clinched the #1 seed in the playoffs.

After clinching the #1 seed and having nothing to lose, the Orioles drop the final regular season game of the year losing 3-2 to the Black Sox of Game 2 of the doubleheader. The Orioles tied it up in the Top of the 4th as Blake Baumgartner hit a lead off double and later scored. The Black Sox answered back with a double and a couple of walks that scored two in the bottom of the 6th. The Orioles would score one in the top of the 7th on a Garrett Walter RBI Single, but the game ended on a questionable call. With runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs down a run, Cameron Vanderberg hits a groundball down the 3rd base line that was clearly foul but the umpire called it fair and the Black Sox 3rd baseman stepped on the bag to end the game. Onto the playoffs! Our first game will be next Sunday at 3:30. Location and Opponent TBD.

Games 13 & 14 vs Chiefs - 8/1

The Orioles dominate the Chiefs Game 1 winning 11-2. The Orioles had 11 runs on 11 hits and the offense was led by Michael Sentman (2-3 - HR, 3 RBIs, 3R), Blake Baumgartner (2-3, 3B, 2B, 3R) and Garrett Walter (2-3, HR, 3 RBIs). The main story of this game was Seth Hoffman's performance. He went all 7 innings with a career high (and team high) 16 Ks. He also set the single season league record breaking Cory Rupert (Hurricanes) record back in 2012 with 103 Ks. Also, with his 10th win of the season, he tied Brad Fetters (Mustangs) for most wins in a season.

Orioles dominate Game 2 vs the Chiefs winning 8-0. The Orioles offense was led by Cameron Vanderberg (2-3, HR, 2 RBIs, 2R) and Seth Hoffman (2-2, 2R). Jared Berger got the start and was awesome. Berger went 5 strong innings only allowing 1 hit and striking out 8. Matt Burleton and Leo Enneking pitched the 6th and 7th respectively. Burleton struck out 3 of the 4 batters while Enneking struck out 2 of the 4.

On the day, the Orioles hit 4 HRs which was more than the Chiefs had hits (3) in both games. Our pitching staff struck out 29 Chiefs! We look to end the season strong as we take on the Black Sox next weekend in a DH.

Game 12 vs Indians - 7/25

Orioles drop their second straight game on Sunday losing to the Indians 9-6. The Orioles were leading 6-3 going into the bottom of the 8th inning, but then wheels fell off. The Indians scored 6 runs off of 4 hits, 2 walks, and hit by pitch with the big blow being a 3 run double. Simply put, we just ran out of healthy arms. Give credit where credit is due though, great comeback by the Indians. Seth Hoffman got the start on short rest and went 5 strong innings, only allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 8Ks. Offensively, the Orioles were led by Bob Ross (2-4), Cameron Vanderberg (2-4), and Wade Teltoe (2-4 2 2Bs). The Orioles look to snap this mini losing streak and get back to their winning ways when they take on the Chiefs in a doubleheader next Sunday at Brunette Field.

Game 11 vs Hurricanes - 7/22

The 10 game win streak is over as the Hurricanes defeat the short handed Orioles (playing with 9 guys) 1-0 on Thursday night. Tip of the cap to P Hayden Cleveland for the Hurricanes on a great game on the mound. In his first career start, Jared Berger pitched 5 strong innings but was the tough luck loser. He also added two of our four hits. We look to start a new winning streak on Sunday where we take on the Indians. First pitch is at 12:30PM at Scecina HS.

Games 9 & 10 vs Arrows - 7/11

The Orioles move to 10-0 with 2 wins over the Arrows yesterday. In the first game, the Arrows scored 1 early run in the first and the Orioles responded to score 2 in the 2nd and that was all of the runs needed for Seth Hoffman as he continued his dominance. Hoffman went the distance, allowing 5 hits in 7 innings with 5 Ks. In game 2, it was all Orioles as they scored at least one run in all but 2 innings. Matt Burleton (making his season debut) was lights out giving us 5 strong innings with 6 Ks.

Notables:

  • Garrett Walter and Cameron Vanderberg led the way offensively in the doubleheader with 3 hits each
  • Tyler Krempasky, Michael Sentman and Bob Ross each had 2 hits.

Game 8 vs Mustangs - 6/27

The Orioles move to 8-0 after an 8-3 win over the Mustangs! The Mustangs opened up with a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 2nd. The Orioles cut the deficit to two after a leadoff double by Bob Ross and a RBI single by Cameron Vanderberg. The Orioles would add two more to tie the game in the bottom of the third on a two RBI single by Blake Baumgartner. The Orioles would take the lead and never look back in the bottom of the 5th after an RBI double by Leo Enneking that scored Seth Hoffman. Orioles added 3 in the 6th and 1 in the 8th for extra insurance. Pitching wise, Seth Hoffman got the start (again) and the win (again) going 7 innings and only allowing 2 earned while striking out 10. The Marian duo Michael Mates (8th) and Jared Berger (9th) came in and shut the door. Next game will be on July 11th as we take on the Arrows in a double header.

Notables:

  • Seth Hoffman: (GS) (W) 7IP, 2ER, 10K

Michael Sentman added two hits and Garrett Walter demolished a ball for his first HR of the season. Next game will be against the Mustangs. First pitch is 12:30PM at Scecina HS.

Scoring 4 runs in the 7th off of an RBI double by Aaron Wells and an RBI single by Wade Teltoe. Seth Hoffman got the start and pitched another quality game! Jared Berger came in to shut the door in the 7th-9th innings. Come see us try to improve to 7-0 as we take on the winless Expos! First pitch is 12:30pm at Brebeuf Jesuit HS.

The offense really didn't going until a 15-20 minute rain delay in the 3rd inning. After the delay, the Orioles scored 11 of their 15 runs. Game 2 vs Rays - 4/25

Orioles win in extras against the Rays 8-7! The Orioles struck first on a Blake Baumgartner RBI single that scored Tyler Krempasky. The Rays tied it up in the top of the 3rd on a leadoff triple by Sullivan who eventually scored, but that was short lived as the Orioles took back the lead in the bottom half of the inning as Bob Ross knocked in Nic Vanderberg on an RBI fielders choice to make it 2-1. That lead however was short lived as the Rays came back to score 2 in the 4th and 5th to make it a 5-2 ball game going into the bottom of the 5th. The Orioles would come back and score 2 in the bottom of the 5th as Nic Vanderberg led off with a triple and scored on Tyler Krempasky's double and Krempasky would score on Blake Baumgartner's single. The Rays would add one in the top of the 6th to make it 6-4. In the bottom of the 8th, Blake Baumgartner got on with a single, then Garrett Walter hit a liner down the line for an RBI triple (not mentioned: his nice swim move to beat the tag). Walter would end up scoring to tie it up on a wild pitch. The game remained 6-6 going into extras where the Rays were able to add one run and almost two but the second runner was gunned down at the plate. Going into the bottom of the 10th, the Orioles were down 7-6 with a runner on 2nd and one out. Michael Sentman hit an RBI triple in the right-center gap to score the runner from 2nd. Bob Ross would come and hit an RBI single up the middle to score Sentman and win the game for the Orioles. A great game played by both teams!

He was the winning pitcher in a complete game, 12 strikeout performance.

The Orioles will take on the Rays next Sunday (4/25) at Bishop Chatard High School (12:30PM). The last time the Orioles faced the Rays was in the 2019 playoffs where the Rays upset the Orioles 5-1. Should be a great test and the Orioles look to improve to 2-0!
