Dave Phillips- Founder of Detroit Catholic Central Lacrosse
The Detroit Country Day School graduate was the first coach hired at Detroit Catholic Central and was instrumental in helping establish the Detroit area Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) lacrosse league in the mid-1980’s. Mr. Phillips was hired in 1981 and brought Catholic Central to four state championships title games in six years. He was the Michigan Scholastic Lacrosse Association (MSLA) Coach of the Year in 1981-82-85. Mr. Phillips was an outstanding prep player at DCD and counts MHSLCA HOF inductee Rob Ambrose as a high school teammate.

By definition of those who played for Mr. DiGiovanni, he was a ‘molder of men’ and the latest Ann Arbor area contributor inductee into the MHSCLA Hall of Fame. Mr. DiGiovanni was the founder and its first head coach of the Ann Arbor Pioneer lacrosse program in 1990. In his first year at the helm, Pioneer appeared in the first MSLA B Division State championship and won it in 1992, the school’s only state championship. Mr. DiGiovanni was instrumental in assisting the University of Michigan Club team to organize and served several years as a player and coach. A member of the US Lacrosse Michigan Chapter Hall of Fame (2009), Mr. DiGiovanni compiled a record of 198 wins and 54 losses and never had a losing season at Michigan.
IA longtime Canadian box and field lacrosse player and coach, Mr. Orzel was instrumental in starting two programs in the Fenton area during two different decades. He was the founder of the Eastern Michigan Lacrosse League and the 1995 US Lacrosse Michigan Chapter of Man of the Year.
Art Hoffman played collegiate lacrosse at the College of Wooster and spent time coaching at his alma mater after graduation. When he was in his mid-20’s, Art Hoffman, Mr. Hoffman was hired by MHSLCA HOF inductee Gene Reilly at Detroit Country Day School in 1982 from an assistant lacrosse coaching position at Ithaca College and spent eight years as DCD’s head coach. Mr. Hoffman had a highly successful career winning two MSLA state championships and his team had a chance to compete for a Midwest Lacrosse Championship. He served as MSLA president and was appointed the US Lacrosse area representative. Mr. Hoffman has spent the last 30 years coaching lacrosse at the Charlotte Country Day School.

Most noted for his long term officiating career, Mr. Adams is a member of the US Lacrosse Michigan Chapter of the Hall of Fame, a founder and trainer for Michigan Lacrosse Officials Association and a standout player and coach for the Detroit-Windsor Lacrosse Club
