Academic All-State Nomination Information

 

Individual Recognition

 

Each member school may nominate up to 4 student-athletes for Individual Academic All-State recognition.

 

All nominees must meet the following criteria…

• Upperclassmen (Junior or Senior)
• Unweighted GPA of 3.7 or higher
• A transcript showing the unweighted GPA must be submitted
• Player has to have been on your season-long Varsity roster - not added late for MHSAA Tournament play

Team Recognition

 

Each member school can nominate their team for Academic All-State Team recognition. 

 

To be eligible for Academic All-State Team recognition, your submission must meet the following criteria...

• Nominate the 10 student-athletes on your Varsity roster with the highest unweighted GPAs
• Players have to have been on your season-long Varsity roster - not added late for MHSAA Tournament play
• These 10 student-athletes can be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
• These 10 student-athletes can have any unweighted GPA
• You must submit a transcript for each of the 10 student athletes, showing each individual's unweighted GPA

Academic All-State Team Award Calculation

 

The Committee Chairman will take only properly completed submissions and calculate the average GPA for each program. 

Before doing so, each student-athlete's GPA will be rounded up or down to two decimal points.

 

.000 - .004	Rounded Down
Ex. 3.850 becomes 3.85 Ex. 3.854 becomes 3.85
.005 - .009	Rounded Up
Ex. 3.855 becomes 3.86 Ex. 3.859 becomes 3.86

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once the average GPAs are calculated for all properly completed submissions, awards will be given in the following manner for both Division 1 & Division 2.

 

Highest Team GPA Average - Academic All-State First Team

Second-Highest Team GPA Average - Academic All-State Second Team

Third-Highest Team GPA Average - Academic All-State Third Team

All other teams with a properly completed submission will receive Academic All-State Team Honorable Mention
