• Division FAQs

  • So we'll be playing two nine-inning games every Sunday?

Yes. But please keep reading for some scheduling caveats.

How long does a game take?

Usually between a half-hour and forty five minutes. We're scheduling an hour and a half for each doubleheader.

    Will that be long enough?

Yes. Take away the defensive transitions, use an MLB endorsed pitching machine that pounds the strike zone, and the result is much more condensed (and intense!) gameplay.

What time on Sunday will my game be played?

Right now the plan is to run games between noon and 9 PM on Sunday. The American (50 mph) division will take the early to mid-afternoon slot and the National (65 mph) division will take the late afternoon and evening slot.

But please note that this schedule is based on a twelve team league, with roughly six teams in each division. If we see more interest (and we hope to), we may need to move up the division start times to make room for every game. Or our schedule may spill into Saturday or a weeknight.

We realize this uncertainty isn't ideal when you're trying to budget time for a baseball league. Count on Sunday games, and when you fill out the new team application, be sure to mark the additional days that might work for you. We'll take the feedback into account if we get to the point where we need to schedule Saturdays or a weekday evening.

We'll have the schedule for you on or shortly after Sunday, November 1st.

All we do is hit in the 50 and 65 mph division?

Yes. Our ATEC machine will handle the pitching. No pitchers or catchers needed.

    Why not live pitching?

Why not indeed. We're doing some testing on that right now. Down the road we plan on offering a live pitching division. Stay tuned for that.

Will I have a team page on this site?

Yes. Roster, stats, the works. Managers will have full control over their team page.

Can I add players to my roster at any point during the season?

Yes. And you may roster as many players as you like. You must play between 3-6 of them every game.

Why are my lineups limited to 3-6 players?

We're capping the lineups at 6 due to COVID: We want to limit the number of persons in the space at one time. The 3 player minimum is to prevent someone like Joe Mauer from signing up, creating a lineup of one every week, and walking away with all of our trophy hardware.

So there will be trophy hardware?

Yes. Team trophies and also individual player awards based on all of the performance metrics HitTrax offers. Our partners over at MABLMetrics will package and present those metrics in (hopefully!) innovative and compelling ways.

What happens if you have to shut down the league because of COVID?

We'll divide your team entry fee by the weeks played and return to you the difference. For instance, if we're forced to shut down three quarters of the way into the season, we'll return to you one quarter of your team fee.
