Essay Competition Guidelines

Why Bullying?

Bullying has become one of the most common issues faced by our nation. It is time to break the code of silence and voice your concerns by encouraging your kids to write about it. We are offering a chance and a platform to nip this ill act right in the trash, but we need your help.

Prize:

The winner of the essay competition will be awarded a scholarship worth $1500. The prize money is only an initiative to encourage kids to come forward and speak about their experience when they were bullied.

Essay Essentials:

Entries will only be selected if they meet the following requisites:

  • Must detail a personal bullying experience
  • Must not exceed the set word count
  • Once submitted, it will not be used or published on any other online competition platform
  • Must be written by children aged between 8-21

Criteria for Selection:

Your essay must:

  • Be original and plagiarism-free
  • Have a unique writing style
  • Be creative
  • Revolve around the core topic
  • Be free of spelling or grammatical errors
  • Include some valuable lesson

Now it is understandable that your essay may not have all the qualities required, but it must still have something unique or creative to offer to be flagged as worthy of qualification.

Judging Criteria:

We believe in complete transparency and unbiased selection. Here is a brief of how our judging process will work:

  • Editors will be assigned to read every single essay submitted.
  • The editors will then flag the essays that stand out of the norm.
  • Then a second panel of peer editors  will double-check each editor’s picks, and if they think, will add or delete essays they believe must or mustn’t be considered to move on to the finalist’s list.
  • The essays that make it to the finalist’s list will then be voted upon by the editors and peer editors until they find the very best and exceptionally written essay. Once this process has been completed, the owner will make the final decision.
  • The writer who wins the $1500 scholarship will be notified by phone

Deadline to Submit Essay: November 01, 2018
