FAQs

1. WHAT IS A PREP PROGRAM?

A prep program is a short term program, 6-12 months, that focuses upon academics and athletics. The academic side usually focuses on ACT/SAT preparation or improvement in a student-athlete's high school core GPA in order to meet NCAA requirements for participation in Division 1 or 2 college sports. Some programs also offer college courses either via online or through attendance at a local college. On the athletic side, the focus is placed upon skill improvement and gaining exposure by participating in games during the regular sport season. The goal is to receive an scholarship offer to play at the college level.

2. WHY WOULD A PLAYER CONSIDER A PREP PROGRAM?

Most players who consider a Prep Program are looking for assistance in academics and/or athletic skill improvement. Academic needs include ACT/SAT preparation, one high school course post graduation, or for individual attention to complete high school requirements in order to qualify with the NCAA to play at the Division 1 or 2 level. Note, a number of players who choose a prep program have already qualified with the NCAA therefore choose a Prep Program for reasons outside of academics. Most players who are interested in a Prep Program do so, to gain exposure and to improve their game and be offered a scholarship to participate at the next level. Players who come from smaller and/or private schools, do not always get looks from college recruiters as there just too many athletes to look at each year. Most student-athletes come for more than one reason. Many just need another year to grow and mature, physically, mentally and emotionally. Probably the best selling point for choosing a Prep Program, is although you are playing, you do not lose a year of college eligibility. That is very important to a college athlete as you only have fours years to participate. (Under normal circumstances)

3. WHAT DOES QUAKERDALE'S EAGLE BASKETBALL GUARANTEE?

Although many people believe that coming to a Prep Program will guarantee them a D1 scholarship, this is not the case. We cannot guarantee any scholarships, but we guarantee that we will try our best to make every player in our program better. We guarantee exposure, competition and playing time. The rest is up to the student-athlete.

4. ARE FULL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?

Full scholarships are not offered. Everyone needs to pay something in order to have buy in and have ownership. There are partial scholarships available if certain criteria is met.

5. AM I GUARANTEED A STARTING POSITION AND MINUTES?

Most of the student-athletes who come were starters or even stars of their teams. This means that any given season, we may have 12 players who were starters, can there be 12 starters on the Quakerdale Eagles, no. It is just like college basketball, you earn your starting position and you earn your minutes.
