HitTrax is a data capture and simulation system. Just as Pitch F/X and Hit F/X technology tracks the velocity and movement of pitched and batted balls in major league stadiums, HitTrax captures those metrics inside of a batting cage. HitTrax then feeds those metrics into its simulation engine. Batted ball exit velocity and launch angle are converted to a virtual ball flight on a virtual baseball field. Virtual defenders react to the hit, batters turn into virtual baserunners, and innings play out in real time.
The result is a simulated baseball game. Except instead of hitting buttons to determine the outcome of a play, you are hitting real baseballs.
