Welcome to ACHS Baseball!

 

 

 

Class of 2025 - You may contact Head Coach Dmitri Young directly after May 1st. 

Prior to that date, you must make all contact through our Athletic Director.  Information can be found at our www.goscorps.com website.   Information about our upcoming tryouts are below.

Thank you for your interest in joining our team.  We are proud of our baseball tradition at ACHS and are excited about the future!

 

Medical Clearances

Registration for medical clearance is now done online at www.athleticclearance.com.  You can print the necessary forms during the registration process.  All athletes who plan to try out or play during summer must have a medical clearance on file. Medical clearances must be done every year.  Print Medical Form here.

 

 

 

ACHS holds usually holds an annual Physical Day to make it easier for you to obtain an Athletic Medical Clearance for your student-athlete. 

The current flyer will be posted on the www.goscorps.com website when the date and time are selected.    

Information for Incoming Freshmen

Tryouts

  • September 20th through September 25th
  • Times will posted closer to the date, expect to tryout after school for at least an hour and a half
  • ACHS Varsity Field

**Players should dress in baseball attire and bring their gear (bat, glove, helmet).  

**Bats must be BBCOR-3.  

**If a player does not have a bat or helmet, we can supply those for use during the tryout.

**If for any reason a player cannot attend one or more days of the tryout, please contact Dmitri Young directly, at dmitri.young@oxnardunion.org.  

 

In order to be eligible to tryout for baseball:

  • Players must have registered to attend school at ACHS in the fall semester.
  • Have registered at http://www.athleticclearance.com and completed an Athletic Clearance Packet 
  • Players must have a doctor’s physical completed as well.  View Document Here
  • Players cannot tryout without this clearance completed and on file in the office prior to tryouts.

 

ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE A COMPLETED Medical Form and must have registered online at the Athletic Clearance website.  You will NOT be able to tryout for the team without this being completed.   Questions regarding medical releases can be directed to our athletic director - Mary Perez - at Mary.Perez@oxnardunion.org

 

All incoming freshmen players who make the team will participate in a mini-camp and orientation.  These days will be dedicated to learning about the ACHS Scorpion Baseball program, working out and playing some baseball games.

 

Purpose of these tryouts:

  • Form the start of our fall and winter freshmen/lower level program
  • This will NOT be the only tryout for the baseball program.
  • The next set of tryouts will be in early January, 2022.

 

For Players Who Make the Team:

Parent Meeting

  • Date and Time of the Parent Meeting (TBD)
  • Meeting at the Varsity Baseball Field Bleachers
  • One parent from each family should plan to attend.

Mini-Camp

  • The infrormation about our mini-camp is yet to be determined.  As soon as date are known, we will post on our website.
  • DATE TBD Dress in workout clothes (no baseball gear is required).  Bring a copy of your 8th grade Second Semester report card.
  • Mini-Camp Activities:
    • Orientation to the baseball program and school.  We will teach our new Scorps our weight-lifting techniques, practice drills, provide an orientation to the school and work to get them ready to hit the ground running as 9th graders.

Cost

  • Mini Camp Donation and Starter Spirit Pack:  $AMOUNT TBD payable to SABC
  • Includes Two practice jerseys, workout shorts and practice cap

Important Note:

  • Players who make the summer roster have made the team for the 2020-2021 year, as long as they maintain a 2.0 GPA!

 

Players who do not make the team at this tryout can try out again during the school year. 

Official tryouts for the spring season will be in early January!
