Keith Koster Scholarship

Every year each JV/V player nominates a Senior Player who he feels is most deserving of the Keith Koster Scholarship. The nominee should be the Senior player the JV/V player feels emulates the same characteristics and qualities as Keith as outlined below.

Background: This scholarship was created in tribute to Keith Robert Koster. Keith was fatally injured on May 4, 2006, while attempting to stop his car from being stolen. Keith was a 2004 Masconomet High School graduate and a player on the Masco HS football team for four years. He was employed part-time and working toward a Criminal Justice degree at the time of his death.

Scholarship & Criteria: The scholarship will honor and perpetuate Keith’s memory. He was a unique young man who exhibited sportsmanship, dedication, leadership, great compassion and genuine concern for his teammates and others. Keith was determined to make others feel welcome, both on the field, and in all aspects of his life. He went out of his way to be inclusive, and never left anyone out.

An annual award will be given to a graduating Masco senior football player who best emulates Keith’s qualities and traits and who pursues further education.

Those eligible must meet the following criteria:

Has played at least three years of Masco HS Football.
Has shown dedication to the game.
Has shown leadership among his teammates and encouraged them, both as a team and individually, to give their best efforts.
Has shown caring by reaching out to new players to include them, making them feel a part of the team.
Financial need will not be a factor in determining the recipient
