Lancer Football

ABOUT US

Linganore Youth Football (LYF) is part of the Linganore Oakdale Urbana Youth Athletic Association (LOUYAA).  LYF is one of three High School Feeder programs within LOUYAA.  LYF feeds into Linganore High School (LHS). Our program follows the Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) High School boundaries for determining which football program players are placed within LOUYAA. If you go to a LHS feeder school or live in the LHS feeder pattern, then you are a LANCER!

Each football program has separate commissioners and therefore their own budget.  This means each program is allowed to operate separately while falling under the LOUYAA umbrella.  Each program can have different management structures as well as associated policies and procedures to follow.

In addition to the above, LYF competes in the Mountain Valley Youth Football League (MVYFL). The MVYFL has 5 separate competitive levels. In 3 of the 5 levels, there is a Division I and a Division II.  LYF currently competes in all levels/divisions.

The mission of LYF is to teach the fundamentals of football and work with LHS to implement the basics of their offense and defense to prepare players entering into LHS. Our program models LHS and is coordinating our efforts with head coach - Coach Rick Conner.  Since our program coordinates efforts, our football players have a near seamless transition from the LYF Program to the LHS Program.

This is Lancer Country, we GROW football champions out here. This is why more college football players come from Frederick County than any other county program by far! Linganore has a long, glorious past itself with many championships and tons of alum that have gone on to play college football at many prestigious universities with scholarships. It is our goal to continue that tradition.

OUR COACHING STAFF

All teams have a Head Coach, several assistant coaches and two team moms. While they are all volunteers, each must submit to a background check and are required to attend training programs, clinics and various pre-season meetings to prepare them for the season. We pride ourselves in selecting only the best available coaching staff available for the athletes. We ask coaches to make sure that they become students of the sport and refresh their knowledge regularly on the age and sport specific coach techniques. Seasoned high school coaches are often present on our fields helping our youth level coaches bring the athletes to a higher level. Former LHS players are also welcome and very frequent visitors to the Lancer practices as they give back to the community when they come from college or after they have graduated from college. The Lancer community operates as a family - we always give back the knowledge that was given to us so that each generation of athlete is better, faster and stronger than the last.
