NAPERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY CLUB
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
Overview
Naperville High School Hockey Club (NHHC) strives to positively impact the physical, mental and social wellbeing of its players. NHHC follows the USA Hockey Core Values related to the development of youth hockey players. It is our goal to develop our players, both as athletes and as individuals. To meet this goal, NHHC players, coaches, parents, family members and other members of the organization ("NHHC members") are expected to act in a responsible, respectful, honorable and upstanding manner, both on the ice and off the ice.
This Parent Code of Conduct applies while they are members of NHHC.
Zero Tolerance Policy
NHHC is governed by the policies, rules and regulations of USA Hockey, the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) and the Illinois West Division High School Hockey League. We expect our players, coaches, parents and other NHHC spectators to follow the words and the spirit of the Zero Tolerance Policy of USA Hockey and AHAI and the Illinois West League. NHHC members will conduct themselves in a manner that exemplifies good sportsmanship and fair play. Families will be supportive of all team players and coaches, both on and off the ice, and will not use negative or derogatory comments about or towards players, coaches and officials. Parent behavior which jeopardizes a team’s opportunity for a positive experience or reflects negatively on the reputation of NHHC will not be tolerated. The NHHC coaching staff and/or NHHC reserve the right to determine if such behavior exists and suspend the parent from participating in NHHC activities, which may include asking the parent to leave an event in progress.
Parents will be required to sign a separate affirmation of the AHAI/Illinois West Division Zero Tolerance Policy before attending any AHAI/Illinois West Division event.
The "Twenty-Four Hour" Rule
A NHHC member should not approach a coach or discuss with a coach or Club official a game, game incident or a situation that occurred during a game that has provoked an adverse emotional response or created a potentially hostile situation until at least 24 hours after the fact. The intent of this “24-hour Rule” is to move a potential emotional and confrontational discussion away from the presence of the players and other parents and to allow all parties the chance to “cool off” before discussing the situation.
Disciplinary Action
AHAI may take disciplinary action for on-ice or off-ice incidents that violate the standards of conduct described above. Further, the Illinois West Division High School Hockey League may impose supplementary discipline in the event a violation is identified by AHAI. Whether or not AHAI or the Illinois West Division elects to act, the NHHC Board may take disciplinary action against any NHHC member for violation of any policy of NHHC or for behavior that the Board believes is detrimental to the goals or the reputation of NHHC. This may include probation, suspension from games, practices or other activities or dismissal from the organization. The Rules and Ethics Committee may suspend a parent based on a known incident and during any ongoing investigation. Violators will be held liable for any fines assessed by IL West to NHHC.
Yellow Jackets:
For each Illinois West Division regular-season and playoff game, each team will provide 2 volunteer security personnel, who will wear yellow jackets identifying them as such. When given an instruction by a security volunteer, parents are expected to comply immediately. When serving as security volunteers, parents are expected to actively monitor spectators and take action in cases of inappropriate behavior.
I have read this Parent Code of Conduct and agree to comply with the word and the spirit
of the Code, and I acknowledge that my electronic acceptance serves as a written signature:
