CYO Handbook:

The St. John the Evangelist CYO Handbook outlines the rules and expectations for the CYO sports programs. Families participating in CYO programs are expected to print and read the handbook, as it describes eligibility and other requirements. New CYO Age Elibility Policy:
 

NEW CYO Age Eligibility Policies are now in effect for Competitive teams.

All registration forms and payments should be completed on-line on the SJE CYO Website.

1.     Age Eligibility Policy:

             On June 26, 2013 the Archdiocesan Priest Council approved a policy change for CYO sports eligibility.  The new policy eliminates a participants “School Grade” as a factor. Eligibility will be based on a participant’s age as of December 31^st each year. This policy change only addresses a participant’s age. Participants must continue to follow all other eligibility policies such as Parish affiliation & Parish school affiliation. The new policy will be listed in an updated CYO handbook that will shortly be posted on our website. This policy is effective immediately and will be active starting with the 2013 Fall seasons.

Each CYO sport may be faced with having slightly different variables in those programs that require amendments to the new policy. These variables may be due to new sports being developed or possible future sports that require different requirements such as weight classifications. Those circumstances will be addressed for each sport program prior to the start of the season. 

Each CYO program will NO longer continue utilizing the traditional Division names for their individual sports (Senior, Intermediate, Varsity, JV, Rookie, Cadet 1 & Cadet 2).

Players may “play-up” if they desire and they are capable of physically and emotionally competing with older players.

The age requirement will be age as of December 31^st each year.

Date of Birth Eiligibility 2021-2022 Season

Senior                - 18 & Under - Participants born in 2003 - 2004 and younger are age eligible. (Basketball Only)

Intermediate      - 16 & Under - Participants born in 2005 - 2006 and younger are age eligible. (Basketball Only)

U14                  - 14 & Under - Participants born 9/1/06 - 8/31/08 are age eligible.

U12                  - 12 & Under - Participants born 9/1/08 - 8/31/10 are age eligible.

U10                  - 10 & Under - Participants born 9/1/10 - 8/31/12  are age eligible.

U8                   -  8 & Under - Participants born 9/1/12- 8/31/13  are age eligible. (Soccer Only)

U7                  -  7 & Under - Participants born  9/1/13 or later and younger are age eligible. (Soccer Only)

Please read additional these Supplemental CYO eligibility rules here before registering:

• Any Catholic child, or non-Catholic child attending an ADW Parochial Catholic School is eligible to participate.
• A non-Catholic child must play for the Catholic school the child is attending.

Rules:
 

Participation in Competitive CYO sports programs requires each participant to register on-line.

1. St. John the Evangelist CYO requires each child to register for each specific sport using the SJE Online registration for the each specific sports session.
   • There is a one time set up for a family account and child account.
   • Once the SJE account is set up and as each sports season approaches, you only need to register your child for that particular sports program.
   • Please set up your family and child(s) account  and then register your child for a sports program by using the SJE registration link.
2. The SJE Sports Pilot registrations will then be synced up to the ADW Sports Pilot site to record the childs information, eligibility and coaches information for all competitive sports programs by the SJE CYO Registrar at the begining of each sports season.
    
3. IF YOU"RE REGISTERING FROM A NEIGHBORING PARISH and your Parish program is already using SportsPilot as an on-line registration system, Please use a different email address or user id (first initial+last name) when setting up your account with the St. Johns on-line registration system.
    
4. Exceptions: Programs not rquired to sync up with ADW:  SJE Intramural Basketball, Track, Spring Soccer Camps, and T-ball

The Archdiocese of Washington D.C., Office of Youth Ministry/CYO will provide information on schedules, team standing, and game & tournament locations

Registration closeout for each sport is listed on the registration form and on the SJECYO web site registration page.

• We are no longer accepting paper registration forms as the process is completely handled on-line thru the Sports Pilot registration system.
• Closeout dates will be listed in the online registration system.
• If you do not have access to a computer, please contact Nick Carrescia  [email protected] and we will provide access to a computer either thru St. Johns or another means to get you registered.
   
• Registrations received after the close of registration may be placed on a wait list, depending upon the number of children who registered on time and the size of the team.
• The late registration waiting list will be kept after the registration deadline. The players will be listed in the order that the registrations were received and will be placed as spots become available or if additional teams are formed. There is a late registration fee.
