Camas High School Girls Basketball Spring and Fall Basketball Programs

Our basketball program in the spring and fall season is very structured and is designed to provide a comprehensive basketball training for our players. We are fully supportive of those athletes who are playing other high school sports during this time. We encourage them to participate in the basketball program to the extent that they can. For those who are not playing sports during this time it is highly recommended that they participate in the program to maintain and elevate their basketball skills, their physical conditioning and their overall athletic ability.

Philosophy:

1. Provide limited game opportunities in order to keep players fresh both physically and mentally. We want to limit the amount of games our players play during this time in order to help prevent repetitive stress injuries and hysical and mental fatigue and stress. We would like our players of playing about 8 games during this time. We want to use this time to engrain our system and imrove familiarity among our players.

2. Provide training opportunities with QUALIFIED basketball trainers. Right now our baksetball program is connected with Henry Barrera and Hoops Diaries to offer small group basketball training in our Camas Basketball Academy.

3. Provide proper strength training though our spring/fall conditioning sessions in the Camas High School weight room. The focus is improving core, upper and lower body strength, power and explosiveness, and injury prevention. We feel this training is helpful to athletes in any sport.

4. Provide agility training during open gym sessions. During this time we work hard to improve our athletes change of direction, ability to jump quickly, improve footwork and explosiveness. Like our strength training we feel this training is  helpful to athletes of all sports.

5. Provide open gym sessions where player can some skill work with outside coaches, work on their individual game and have the opportunity to scrimmage with players in the program.

6. Provide ACL Injury prevention screening for all of our athetes.

7. Provide information on college viewing tournaments for players interested in playing college basketball.
