Brief History about the Tri County Legion Baseball Organization, Inc.
Tri County Legion Baseball Organization (TCLBO) was formed August 29, 1994. TCLBO, Inc. became a non-profit corporation officially on August 4, 1997. The organization is classified as a section 509 (a) (2) organization and is exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (a) of the Internal Revenue Code as a Public Supported Organization described in section 501 (c) (3). The organization is 100% volunteer with no paid individuals.
The Tri County Legion Baseball Organization, Inc. (TCLBO, Inc.) was formed to bring American Legion Baseball to the Tri County District and construct a baseball facility within the District. The organization is committed to this project and providing opportunities to the youth of the Tri County District.
TCLBO, Inc. is addressing the need for a worthwhile activity for youth ages 15-19 in the Tri County District. Legion baseball, prior to 1995, was not an option for the youth of the Tri County District, except for a select few that played for area teams at Wilber and Daykin. The establishment of our program in the Tri County District has allowed many youth to participate in this great activity. We must give our youth these types of activities if we expect them to succeed.
TCLBO, Inc. is solely a volunteer-based organization. The group has no full-time or part-time staff. The concerns, direction and management of TCLBO, Inc. are vested in the Board of Directors. The current twelve-member Board of Directors is comprised of eleven men and one woman. A Baseball Committee manages baseball operations and is comprised of three Legionnaires, with one appointed from each of the Posts in Plymouth, DeWitt and Swanton. The Team Manager and President of TCLBO, Inc. are also included with this five-person committee.
The Tri County Legion Baseball teams are unique to this area of the State of Nebraska. The teams of 1995 represented the first of its kind in the Tri County District. TCLBO, Inc. works very closely with the Legion Posts at Plymouth, DeWitt and Swanton. DeWitt Post #212, Plymouth Post #243, and Swanton Post #258 are the Posts that sponsor the Tri County teams. TCLBO, Inc. is the organization that carries out the fund raising activities, field construction and the everyday operations of the baseball program. TCLBO, Inc. continues to form partnerships with area organizations, which has proven beneficial in the area of fund raising and field construction.
