Washington Township Baseball & Softball (WTBBSB) Travel Programs
Our Spring, Summer, and Fall travel programs consist of competitive Baseball and Softball for residents of Washington Township in Bergen County New Jersey. Home games are played in our town and away games are out of town. We typically register with travel leagues in Northern New Jersey. These leagues do have teams from Rockland County which means the potential exists for additional driving distance to away games. Most travel Baseball & Softball leagues, except seniors, follow Little League International game rules in addition to some modified rules per specific leagues.
Please note that our travel leagues are designed for children interested in playing competitive Baseball and Softball. The children must register and play in our recreational program to qualify for travel leagues. Any child may tryout, but understand that playing in these travel leagues requires a higher skill level than recreation and better understanding of the game. These travel teams require a high level of commitment during the Spring and Summer.
Spring Travel information summarized:
Must be a resident of Washington Township (unless numbers are low there we can accept approved free agents from other towns)
Available to any child who also plays in our recreational program
For Baseball, must tryout to make the team (held in the Fall prior to Spring for planning and winter training assignements)
The tryout process is improved every year. The challenge is that only 12 kids can be on each team and there are typically ~15 or more kids worthy of being on the best team. It's a difficult process. When both numbers and competitive skillsets are high, we may have multiple teams per age group and place in a League and flight where they can be competitive.
