2024 NFWB Vikings Volunteer Policy

Our Volunteer Philosophy
The NFWB Vikings organization is run entirely by volunteers. The Board of Directors works year-round to maintain the program and Coaches devote over 200 hours a season to our program. It takes approximately 70 parents to run one home game day. In order to maintain our program’s success, volunteering is a mandatory part of our program.

Volunteer Requirements

  1. Each family is required to work 4 volunteer shifts for the 2024 season; 1 volunteer shift on each home game day.
  2. Each family must be signed up for their 4 volunteer shifts prior to Equipment Hand Out Day.
  3. No child will be given equipment or allowed to practice until their family’s volunteer sign-up is complete.
  4. The parent or family member who is listed as the main point of contact in the registration system (the person who registers the child) is responsible for the family’s volunteer requirement. This person is responsible for making sure that each of the 4 required volunteer shifts is fulfilled by a family member or friend of the family 18 years or older.
  5. If you know prior to game day that you cannot work your designated volunteer shift, it is your responsibility to find a replacement. Please contact the Director of Volunteering to inquire about anyone looking to swap shifts.
  6. Each shift is the duration of a game. Arriving more than 15 minutes late or leaving early will result in the shift being counted as missed. If you are running late, contact the Director of Volunteering as soon as possible.

Procedures for Incomplete Volunteer Requirement

  1. The fine for EACH missed volunteer shift is $100 (Once a shift has been missed, no makeup shifts will be arranged instead of the $100 fine).
  2. If you miss a shift, your $100 Volunteer Deposit check will be cashed.
  3. A replacement Volunteer Deposit check for $100 will be required before your child can resume practice the week following the missed shift.
  4. If your Volunteer Deposit check is returned for any reason you will forfeit your athlete’s right to play in the next scheduled game/event, attend the banquet and/or their returning player status for the next season.
  5. `Returning Player Status' for the following season will only be granted to those athletes who end the season in good standing by having all volunteer requirements met by their families.

Buy Out Option

A buy-out option is available for $500 and must be arranged with the Board Treasurer and paid for prior to Equipment Hand Out Day.

Reminder: Each family must be signed up to volunteer for a shift at each of the 4 home games prior to their child starting practice this season, though we would prefer everyone get signed up prior to football equipment.

No player or cheerleader will be allowed to practice until the family has completed volunteer sign up.
