Livonia is pleased to announce a brand-new and fully independent, community-based prep program for the Spring 2018 lacrosse season. Participation is limited to current Livonia Public Schools (LPS) students, but not affiliated with LPS at this time.
This inaugural team is largely developed and home grown from the Livonia Raptors youth program celebrating five (5) years of sustained growth this upcoming Spring season which operates three (3) teams, one (1) each @ 10U, 12U, and 14U ages, serving over sixty (60) participants.
Our ultimate goal is supporting the continuation of a lacrosse experience for those that have acquired 5-6 years of competition and development with the Raptors, and who are now in High School, as well as others either with experience or wanting to learn. Before the Lumberjax, this opportunity did not exist.
We held a parent informational meeting on Dec. 19th to gather a feel for demand and review season outlook, expectations, budget and open issues linked to success. From this, we are confident we can produce a JV team comprised of former Raptors as well as players in Livonia Public Schools with either prior experience in CYO, or other tryout or travel programs. We need your help with one key open issue which is securing matches, home or away, with any JV program in Tri-County area. We will be a young JV team with about 65% derived from freshman (2021) class, but they are passionate and talented student athletes and we are driven to seize this eligibility year for all.
This foundational season will lead to creation of a Varsity program in future years while promoting a sustained and positive culture. We have several great athletes from various backgrounds wanting to experience lacrosse and we will steer them to training sessions in 2018 so they as well can contribute in future years. Additionally, the pipeline of talent from the Raptors is large for future graduation classes.
We are looking to schedule matches throughout the boys High School lacrosse season. Please feel free to contact Mike Redding, JV Head Coach at 248.933.3098 or [email protected] or the undersigned at 734.646.1929 or [email protected].
Our next parent meeting to update progress is the week of January 8th. We would be very grateful to have heard from you about your willingness to set a date for a future match so we can continue to progress diligently forward with your support.
Wishing you and yours a great Holiday season, some peaceful days of rest, and a great start to the New Year.
Sincerely, Eric Young - Founder, Raptors and Lumberjax
