2026 MINNEAPOLIS ANGELS

6/2.  A bit of a turn-around from last week.  After getting no-hit by the MudCats, Kyle Nelson decided to do the same to the Crystal Cowboys, tossing a perfect game with 9 strikeouts.  The Angels bats came alive at least a litte, too.  Taylor Branstad had 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 RBI to lead the Angels' offense.  Mike Nellessen drove in 2 and Kipp Youngquist scored twice.  Brady Johnson contributed a 3-run single--yep, you read that right, a single to deep CF.  He also was the victim of a 9-3 putout (I guess the baseball gods were watching).  Kevin Bergman perfectly executed his closing catcher duties, with a clean 1-2-3 inning to end it.  For his 77-pitch, perfect-game effort, Nelson was named the Coors Light Player of the Game:

5/28.  Well, the Angels' bats did not wake up.  In fact, they went to sleep.  The Angels dropped their second league game to the Minneapolis MudCats, 6-0, and were no hit in the process.  Silver Lining: the Taco Bell delivery to the Nieman lot (well, not exactly to the lot, but we tracked down the driver a few blocks away) turned out to be clutch.  The Angels may need to make a call to Pedro Cerrano to help with the offensive woes:

5/26.  The Angels opened their 2026 campaign in the same way the 2025 season began, by dropping one to the defending league champs, the Warriors. Kyle Nelson and Mitch Bauer pitched well for the Angels, but the bats were not quite awake from their winter slumber.  Hopefully things will get going soon.
