PLEASE NOTE:  All Baseball and Softball Registrations for 1st grade and up are CLOSED, and cannot accept any more registrations.  Only K & PreK Instructional Baseball & Softball can take registrations
 
The Plainville Athletic League (PAL) is a non-profit youth sports organization that offers baseball and softball opportunities for area youth from ages 4 to 14. Since 1955, the PAL has been run by parents and volunteers. The league is not funded by the town and therefore relies upon the generosity and support of its member families and local businesses in the community. Read more about the PAL here.

REGISTRATION & DIVISION DETAILS

 

 

It's now time to get ready for another season of softball and baseball at the PAL. Please complete this registration form and payment prior to evaluations.


The PAL is proud of its policy to NEVER turn away a child due to a family's inability to pay. If you are seeking financial assistance, please complete the PAL Financial Assistance Request Form and complete this registration form. (The registration and payment options are separated).

 

 

Player age groups as follows:


Baseball

 

-- Instructional: Pre-K and K (must be 4 years old by 4/30/2026)**
-- Farm: 1st and 2nd grade**

-- Minors: 3rd and 4th grade**

-- Majors: 5th and 6th grade**

       

  


Softball**

 

-- Instructional – Pre-K/K/1st grade (must be 4 years old by 4/30/2026)**
-- Minors– 2nd/3rd/4th grade**
-- Majors – 5th/6th grade**
-- Seniors – 7th/8th grade

 

 

** Age groups are preliminary until all registrations and teams are filled. There may be some adjustments required based on the number of players who sign up.

PAYMENTS & DEADLINE INFORMATION

 

 

Online payments can be made in full via the PayPal or Venmo links (either by credit card or with a PayPal/Venmo account) to complete the registration. Checks are accepted if online payment is not an option. Please note: a separate registration needs to be submitted for EACH child. Unfortunately there is no cart feature available at this time, so each must be paid upon completion before continuing to the next.

 

 

Please note, if you are registering after February 28, 2026, your son or daughter is NOT guaranteed a spot, and will be placed on a roster on a best efforts basis.

Since 1955, the PAL has been run by parents and volunteers. The league is not funded by the town and therefore relies upon the generosity and support of its member families (you) and local businesses in the community. It is anticipated that our PAL community will volunteer to help, where it is needed, to keep our programs running.

The total fee includes a team jersey and hat/visor, and kitchen fee. Helmets and bats are provided by the PAL for players who do not have their own.


PLEASE NOTE: This fees includes the mandatory $50 kitchen fee which is used to ensure kitchen staffing for the Spring recreational season. THIS WILL BE REFUNDED after volunteering and completing a kitchen shift. One fee per player. Additional shifts are welcomed, but without additional refund. All funds raised by the kitchen are used to operate the PAL facility and run our programs.

CODE OF CONDUCT

BY SIGNING THE REGISTRATION FORM, YOU (PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND PLAYERS) CERTIFY THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED, READ AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY PROVISIONS SET FORTH BELOW, NOW AND IN ANY CONTINUED AND FUTURE INVOLVEMENT IN PAL ACTIVITIES . PLEASE PRINT AND RETAIN THIS FOR YOUR RECORDS.

FOREWORD

In order to advance the principals of sportsmanship and fair play and to promote mutual respect among players, coaches, umpires and spectators the Plainville Athletic League (PAL) has established this “Code of Conduct” (hereafter referred to as “the Code”). The Code of Conduct shall govern the actions of players, coaches and spectators. The Code is intended to provide behavioral guidance and establish clear expectations for all involved. The Code was not conceived to address every possible behavioral circumstance; however, it shall serve as the Organization’s standard for behavioral evaluation. It shall be the obligation of ALL program participants, spectators and volunteers, to comply with the terms and provisions of the Code of Conduct. Any person violating the Code shall be subject to administrative action, up to and including termination of his/her privilege to participate in, or attend, any or all PAL sponsored activities.

Complaints and/or concerns regarding the Code of Conduct or any other issues shall be brought in the following manner:

-- Chief Baseball / Softball Representative
-- League President
-- Full Board (Issue must be submitted in writing with complete explanation)


PLAYERS

Players shall...


-- Display good sportsmanship and team play at all times.
-- Follow the direction of the Coaching Staff.
-- Respect all, coaches, players, league officials, umpires and spectators.
-- Be on time and ready to play for all games and practices.
-- Advise Coach in advance of any absences or lateness.


Players shall not...


-- Use abusive or profane language.
-- Taunt or humiliate any other player.
-- Question an umpire’s call.
-- Abuse, mistreat or mishandle any equipment or property (e.g., throwing batting helmets, bats, etc.)



A violation of these rules may, at the coach’s discretion, result in immediate removal from a game, loss of minimum batting/fielding privileges and/or removal from a future game. Serious and/or repeated violations may, at the discretion of the Executive Board, result in the player’s suspension from more than one game or expulsion from the league; under such circumstances the Player & his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) will be afforded an opportunity for a hearing.

PARENTS, GUESTS & SPECTATORS

Parent, Guests and Spectators shall...


-- Support the players, coaches, umpires and league officials
-- Be positive role models.
-- Display and instill in all players, the principals of good sportsmanship and team play.
-- Conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of the players.
-- Provide the players a positive experience.
-- Make certain that their children show respect for all other players, coaches, officials and spectators and not ridicule or demean players, coaches or umpires.
-- Inform the coach of any disability or ailment that may affect the safety of their child.
-- Respect the opponent and avoid any confrontation with opposing players, spectators, or coaches.
-- Respect the officials and their authority during games.
-- Treat all players, coaches and umpires fairly and with respect.
-- Comply with the decisions of league officials and observe all rules, policy and procedure as established or endorsed by the PAL.



Parent, Guests and Spectators shall not...


-- Question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
-- Question an umpire’s call.
-- Engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with an official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting, using profane language or gestures.
-- Engage in any conduct which the umpire deems is distracting to the Players and Coaches or significantly interferes with others’ ability to enjoy the game.
-- Coach any player (including his/her own child) during games and practices, unless s/he is one of the official coaches of the team or has been requested by the Head Coach to assist.



A violation of these rules may, at the umpire’s discretion, result in immediate removal from the PAL grounds. Serious and/or repeated violations may, at the discretion of the Executive Board, result in the Parent, Guests or Spectator’s being barred from being entering upon the PAL grounds; under such circumstances the Parent, Guests or Spectator will be afforded an opportunity for a hearing.

I/We the parents/guardians of the above named candidate(s) for a position on a Plainville Athletic League Team, hereby give my/our approval to his/her participation in any and all Plainville Athletic League activities during the season. I/We assume all risks and hazards incidental to such participation, including transportation to and from activities; and I/We hereby waive, release, absolve, indemnify and agree to hold harmless the Plainville Athletic League, the organizers, sponsors, supervisors, participants and persons transporting my/our child(ren) to or from activities, for any claim arising out of injury to my/our child(ren). I/We assume all responsibility in the event of their injury. I/We agree to return upon request the uniform and other equipment issued to our child(ren) in as good a condition as when received, except for normal wear and tear. By signing/initialing below I/we the parents/guardians of the above named player(s) certify that I/we have received, read and agree to abide by the provisions set forth in the attached Plainville Athletic League Code of Conduct; and further that I/we have reviewed the same with our child(ren) and agree on his/her/their behalf (if instructional level) that he/she/they will abide by the provisions of the same now and during my child(ren)s continued and future involvement with the PAL.
