Recruiting Profiles & Updates

WHY PLAY CLUB BASKETBALL?

"You play club basketball to get national exposure and the chance to play against elite competition.  Playing with the Tucson Rattlers will give you that opportunity and will help you be seen by hundreds of college coaches from around the country.

Today college coaches go to AAU tournaments to recruit players of all ages. It is a great advantage to the club programs. That is how I was seen and was recruited by the top Division 1 schools. I decided to go to the University of Arizona.  If you are serious and want to play at the next level,  club basketball is where you need to play."

-  Julie Brase-Hairgrove,  Phoenix Mercury Assistant Coach

"The Tucson Rattlers, a girl's youth basketball organization, competes in local AAU sanctioned and national NCAA certified events that serve the purpose of sharpening an individual's skill and showcasing their ability before college coaches and recruiters. College recruiting takes place mostly at these national NCCA certified events these days. Certified events allow college coaches to evaluate hundreds of kids over a weekend while the players compete against other elite level players. Interscholastic sports still have their role in the recruiting process but college coaches largely rely on the certified tournaments to identify players of interest. The Tucson Rattlers are coached by Pima CC assistant coach Chris Klassen and assisted by Palo Verde high school coach Leon Stallworth. The two combined, bring years of experienced coaching, which in itself is a refreshing look for AAU basketball.

Coach Klassen runs an awesome, organized practice that is along the lines of what these players will see in college. His attention to detail, timeliness and passion is remarkable.  His passion for the success of his student athletes is very evident. Coach Klassen should be applauded for the amount of work, skill development and team execution completed in a two hour practice plan."
